i need some more low end juice!!

actually alot more. i need to figure out what prop came stock with our boat and what pich prop im looking for.

our boat takes off fine when i dont have my ballast full and dont have lots of people in my boat.. but i never dont have my ballast full and alot of people. i have 1200 pounds of ballast and i always have at least 7-8 in the boat. and alot of the time i have more people.
if i keep it under 7 people it still does allright out of the hull but i think it neeeds to come out faster. now if i have more than 10 and full ballast its bad. it takes a long time to get to speed and speedset struggles hard to maintain speed. given that is a lot of weight but i would like it to be able to handle it well without having to drain most the water out of my tanks, and i want speedset to be able to maintain better with that weight

what might the prop pich be that i need

I would say call Bill Weeks at Acme prop 888-661-acme. He is helping me get more out of the hole on my boat.

You can find out what prop you have on the boat right now. The prop numbers are stenciled into the prop near the center of where the prop shaft goes into the prop itself.

I dont think its stock but I beleive my dad said 13 13 what ever size that meant. and our low end is Terrible when I have people in the boat.... Idk but it takes like 5 seconds to get even to boarding speed... and I mean The boat viberates and shakes a bit hard in my opinoin pulling somoene out of the water or just pinning the throttle getting up on a plane or something???

I have the same boat as you and I run an Acme 525. It's a 13x11.5 3 blade and it's awesome. The holeshot is something else. Way better than the 4-blade I replaced.

How is the Tige dealer in that area? Who should you call? I would still think that Taylor's would know more about inboards than a yacht dealer. There will likely be a learning curve on that end of things.

I agree with bsnook, call acme, tell them the problem and they will recommend a prop for you. I bet if you buy direct from them, they will take it back if you don't like it and have not dinged it. That is why I bought direct from them, even though I paid more. Make sure you know your tranny (?gear reduction?), motor and current prop.

                    Laketime,

I had a 537 (13.5 x 16 with .60 cup I think)on my 24 v from Taylors and that is probably what you have as well. I just installed a 1237 (13.5 x 14.25 with .150 cup) for the same reasons as you. When boat is loaded up and at elevation ,over 6,000 feet, the 537 is a little sluggish. I have not had the boat on the water with the new prop, but will on the 24th (East Canyon don't tell anybody and maybe I'll have it all to myself). I will let you all know what I think of this prop at elevation. I think from talking to Bill Weeks at ACME this will be the right prop for me and maybe you as well if you are going to higher elevation lakes, ie Deer Creek, Jordanelle, Pineview, etc... I will be changing props back to the 537 for Powell and Mead etc...

ha ha. your not going to have east canyon to your self on the 24... it's IWA's third competition. there will be about 70 riders. and then after the comp everyone goes out to ride for the rest of the night on there own boats.... but hey i'll keep my eye out for youthough, i'll be on the beach for most of the day wating for my pull.

but yeah at jordanelle our boat was way sluggish to

Laketime you scared me off of East Canyon on the 24th. I didn't know about the competition, I did go up with out the boat for a few hours to watch, looked like great fun. I did get up to Pineview this morning the new prop is awesome (1237 ACME). I had six people in the boat and top speed was 41 at 4900 rpm. I lost 1 mph and gained a huge hole shot. One of my boys friends that was skiing asked that I pull him up a little more gradual . Wakeboarding speeds seemed to hold steady the same as the other prop. So my is that with a 24 V above 5,000 feet I would use the 1237 from ACME. I will swap props for below 5,000 back to my 537 which is now what I call my Powell prop. Also for those Utahns if you ding a prop the place to have it repaired is The Marine Prop Shop in Clearfield they fixed my prop for $68 he did it in 3 weeks when he told me 5-6 and came recomended by two different dealers. Kind of a hippy dude that doesn't know what he's worth.

ha ha sorry. but thats cool that you made it up for a bit. you didn't happen to see our rig did you?? we were the big motorhome with of course the tige behind it. we were parked up front with the other camp trailer. but it was a way good day for the first half but then the weather came. it rained so hard that they had to take a 20 minute break and wait for it to chill out. but all in all a great day. and i took first

but as far as the prop goes, for now we havn't done anything about it. i've actually found that if i put taps to 0 it gets out of the water just as fast as it should and when i get about to speed i put taps back up to 8 and it does awesome

I might have seen ya, I did see the rig and it looks like a nice set up. I was kind of being a loner as I had my dog and he's real friendly. I don't like having him saying hi to people without them wanting him to. I was on the very east side of the spectator area from about 11:00 to about 3:00 I was in a yellow beach chair with a big red Irish Setter. I may have seen your little sister up by the moter home when I went up for lunch, cute little girl that I thought came out of the motor home and asked if she could pet my dog. I guess this is where the face with a name thread would come in handy. if I would have known I was heading up I would have pm'd a few fuys on here. If you took first you got mad skills. Do you have any pics, if so post some on another thread as I think we might have taken this one Chester.jpg
