ok, so whats the big advantage of this? We use an old ski rope with a handle on it. Works just fine as long as you don't hang on it all afternoon.Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.Comment

The advantage is that you aren't throwing a handle 15' into the boat that could potentially hit someone in the head. It's not a big deal but it's nice.. we like it.
The disadvantage is it's pretty hard for beginners to learn on a rope with no handle because you have to grab at 2 lengths with your hands vs. having them next to each other on a handle. Plus it is harder to hold on to. For these reasons, when we are teaching someone we tie off an old ski rope so it's easier for them to get up.If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..Comment

With the big handle and slow speeds its easy to get tangled up. also people have a bad habit of looping a thin rope around their hand witch is very dangerous when you fall.
