We will be heading out to Powell this Thursday for our annual weeklong houseboat vacation. Two Houseboats, 50 people (all family, immediate and extended). Three ski boats (we usually have four) and 5 personal watercraft. We rent from Antelope Point. This will be our 26th year. Like Tall said, Cathedral Canyon is one of the coolest canyons on the lake, but with over 200 other canyons there are many others that are worth visiting. That is what makes Powell such a beautiful place. Definately one of my favorite places that I've ever been.

Beautiful pics Tall! We're making our annual 1 week pilgramige in two weeks. I can't wait to get back.
BTW, how close can you get to Rainbow Bridge? The last time we made that run we had to hike the last 1/4 mile.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be

        Hike to Rainbow Bridge

We were there about two weeks ago and the hike was appx. 3/4 of a mile. (Bring water, it gets hot!) Well worth the hike!

We visited Lake Powell last summer, towed our 22v all the way from North Carolina and it was worth every mile. Everyone should make the pilgrimage at least once in life, and more if you are able. We now live in Washington State and although the scenery is beautiful here, the combination of water and scenery at Lake Powell are one of kind.

We went on to Vegas after two days on Lake Powell, our Suburban was stolen our last night in Vegas, they did not get the boat though (thank goodness). Here is a picture I took while at Lake Powell, it was 112 degrees that day, but the water was a very refreshing 74.

You didn't take his truck......you would have taken the boat with it.

I had the boat unhitched and parked under a security camera next to the office. We got in about 2:30 am and parked the truck near the boat (under another security camera). When I came out the next morning the truck was gone. LVPD found our truck about three blocks away, the door lock was busted and everything we had inside was gone, including my boat keys. I had to pay a locksmith to pick the padlock I had on my trailer lock just so I could re-hitch the boat.

Two weeks after the incident I got a call from LVPD saying they had busted the two guys who stole our vehicle, we ended up getting most of stuff back. The officer who worked our case said we were extremely lucky to get anything back. These guys got busted when an alert police officer noticed some strange paperwork in the back of a vehicle during a routine traffic stop. It turns out the strange paperwork was my son's high school diploma. When the guys could not explain why someone else's diploma was in their car he got suspicious. When they searched their home they found our stuff and stuff reported stolen in more than 40 other incidents. It's nice to know that every now and then these low life people get caught...

Even with all that drama the trip to Lake Powell was worth it.

I've had my truck broken into 3 times now. I never leave anything in sight anymore. The last 2 times, someone else left something desirable on the floor in front of my back seat. Not sure how they would have known it was there because my windows are very dark.

It's a PITA every time it happens!
