Lake Powell pics - good time

A few weeks ago I went to Lake Powell. We drove there late Tuesday, set up camp, then spent all day Wednesday on the lake. It was me and a buddy and all of the kids. 12 people all in all on the Tige 24V. The boat performed flawlessly. Drove all the way to Rainbow bridge and back. Used up 52 gallons. Wakeboarded a little, jumped off some cliffs, ate junk food all day, fed the carp at Dangling Rope.

My favorite secret spot on the lake is Cathedral Canyon, it is the last canyon just before Rainbow bridge. It winds in a long ways, at times becoming just barely passable, and then just keeps going with 100 feet sandstone cliffs above you on each side. On Google earth, some clouds obscure where the canyon is. Forgive me for rambling, but just wanted to share. I won't be back to the internet for a few days, but will comment more once I get back.

You can see little bits of blue and red gelcoat on the sandstone walls as you go by from people who were not too careful.

And the old man can still get up a little. I did successfully make the tail grab there.

No ballast in the boat, just 3 adults and 8 little people between 14 and 3 years of age. TAPS about half way down.

So I was dumb enough to put a life jacket around my waist and swim out there with my $400 camera to take a pic inside Cathedral canyon. I think it was worth it...

If you don't jump off a cliff when at Powell, you haven't lived yet. My wife goes without her life vest, drives me nuts. I need to increase my life insurance on her...

Notice the shadow of her foot and leg on the rock. I thought that looks pretty cool.

Sometimes the only time you get a smile like this is when at the Lake with friends and family. All of my cares get swept away when I see something like this.

Cuz that is where he painted them on at? I don't know, never noticed it until you point that out, they look...different. I had him paint them on since he was painting on the transom.

I have only been to powell once, when I was like 13. It was a great trip and beautiful. Would like to take my kids there someday. Its so hard though, now that I am so close to our lake, I hate driving anywhere. I don't even make it to shasta or trinity.

That sounded like a very enjoyable trip for you. Thanks for sharing and yes, your wifes leg shadow was long. It seemed to go all the way down to the water level.

                            Awesome Pictures Tall!
We went to both Rainbow Bridge and Cathedral canyon on Tall's advice. Everyone loved Cathedral Canyon the best. My wife said it was like being on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride @ Disneyland.
There was this crazy rental boat that kept going down the canyon where no boat should go. We video taped it. I'll have to pull it off the camcorder and post it up.

You haven't lived until you go to Powell. No other lake, river can compete with it.

I have been to Rainbow Bridge twice but never knew about Cathedral Canyon until toady. I definitely will be checking it out next time I go.
