Don't think it is false advertising as Iroko is referred to as African Teak, Not always an ideal substitute for teak according to wikepedia.
    Let it be!!!

Very true... It is just amazing what we find out after the fact. However, the price of Iroko is probaby cheaper than real teak....

        Interesting:
        Product Descriptions: Iroko
        (Chlorophora excelsa)
Color: Color varies from pale golden brown to dark chocolate brown.

The Tree: The tree is quite large and may reach 160 feet in height. The bole is straight, cylindrical, and may be clear of branches to 80 feet. Logs usually average about 30" diameter.

The Wood: Medium to coarse texture with an interlocking grain that often produces interesting patterns. Open pores requires filling for a smooth finish. Works well with power and hand tools.

Typical Uses: Boat building and marine work, furniture and cabinet work.

Source Region: Primarily Ivory Coast and Cameroons

I would agree. Maybe Tige was also duped by the supplier.

I doubt that one... But they were duped on the 2006 racks that came with the boat made and manufactured by Wake Designs....

da.bell, I found out a year later that it is not real teak but Iroko. REAL TEAK IS NOT CHEAP. Iroko is less expensive!

It's like G-Money said, they are trying to cut corners. If they didn't, our boats would be a lot more expensive. Unfortunately, the products that they have chosen in the past hasn't been good. Now, that is only a few items but not everything...

African Teak is just a nickname!!!

It's NOT in the Teak family and it's a poor substitute for teak IMO

They used real Teak before and they were less expensive then other manufactures. I'm just happy it's only a few items the effed up

Its a common name. Here is a list of all the common names Iroko can be called.
                          Iroko
                          (Chlorophora excelsa)
                          Common Names:
                          African Teak
                          Abang
                          Iroko
                          Kambala
                          Lusanga
                          Mandji
                          Mokongo
                          Molundu

                          Moreira
                          Mvule
                          Mvuli
                          Odum
                          Rokko
                          Semli
                          Tule mufala

No doubt it was used because it was less expensive. Quick search was 1/2 inch teak boards are about $32/sq ft and Iroko is about $15/sq ft

My dealer informed me about the pylon. It was still my choice to purchase or not purchase the boat

Teak is classified as "Tectona grandis" and belongs to the Verbenaceae family. African teak is sometimes also called African Oak and is classified as Oldfieldra Africana and is of the spurge family and is really a substitute for teak.

I am glad I made the dealer switch the Teak (fake teak) platform with the fiberglass one from another boat when I picked up the boat. If the teak platform was on the boat I was just going to rhino line it like on my last boat
