    Some kind of alarm

So I had my boat out for the first time this season (I know I'm running a little late). But while we were out I would get an alarm and I'm not sure what it was.

If we were pulling someone and they went down, if the driver turned sharp at a decent speed to pick them up we would get this alarm. It only happened twice. Each time I had to shut off the engine to get it to stop. Once I restarted the boat it was fine.

The only other time I heard this alarm was when I got a rope stuck in my prop but then it alarmed and shut off the engine. This time it just alarmed. Would it do that if it thought it was low fuel? I checked all of the fluids they were fine. The temp gauge was also reading in the normal range.

Anyone have any ideas as to what my baby was trying to tell me??

did it sound like the "BEEEEP!!" that happens when you turn the ignition on? I'm wondering if it could be oil pressure. Look for the red light on one of your gauges that comes on before you crank the engine.
    Freude am Fahren.

If you have a depth finder and have your depth alarm on, depending on the angle of your turn, your depth finder could be getting enough turbulence to tell you that it's only 2-3 feet. Check where your transducer is mounted.

Im not sure its this because wouldnt the alarm turn off once its in deeper water?

Actually I think a Powerturn Alarm would be a great thing. Only instead of sounding a loud beep or noixe it would shock the seat of the driver until it was stopped! And if tubing it would shock twice as hard and long!

Quick, patent that idea and you can make a crap load of money.

                    Great idea.

I would say rarely is it necessary. In fact, the only time I ever approach my rider at speed is to put myself between the rider and an oncoming boat. Even then, I come off plain, do my 180 and go straight back.

Power turns create more problems, especially in close quarters.

If the boat's depth finder is out of the water, it will have a reading of the distance between the finder and the top of the water in some cases.

I would agree with Dog and DA on this one. Occaionally i get false readings as well. Any turbulence between the transducer and smooth water can cause a false reading. I will get them more at high speed in deep water than lower speeds in the same.

I like the way you think. Although, I would add a voice alarm that would say something like "Warning, warning, throttle down" or, in Larry the Cable Guy's voice "Back R Down, Dumb A$$!".

Are you checking the temperature gauge when it goes off? If you are overheating, an alarm will go off.
