Gauges powered, will not turn over

We are looking for some wisdom.

    1996 FSLM 2000.

This boat is great. 200 hours total. Yesterday we were out on the lake and went to start the boat and nothing. No click, no nothing. All the gauges and the radio worked fine, but nothing. After jiggling the throttle and messing with the tranmission engage button it started right up....same problem today....same solution.

So there doesn't appear to be any electrical wires coming from the trottle assembly. I don't see any type of transmission safety swith....I am aware that the boat will not start when in gear. So thats not the problem. What needs to be replaced or maintenced here?

Thanks for any suggestions....we are on our vacation and don't want spend it on the beach.

All boats have a mechanism that will prevent them from starting in gear. It sounds like that mechanism may be worn or when you're putting it in the neutral position, it's not really in neutral. I'm not sure how you'd fix it, but others might be able to tell you.

If you look at the backside of the throttle, you will see how the neutral safety switch works. That should give you some insight. It might need a cleaning.

May need a slight adjustment due to a little stretch in the cable over time.
