Don't get me wrong...I'm still a BIG advocate of Tige. I love mine and I'm on #2. Probably won't be my last either. I'm just saying...this is a very big deal and w/o board racks, you lose overall functionality of a very expensive investment that is only really usable for a finite amount of time each year. I know if it were me...and I wouldn't look forward to taking my boat out, crammed with people ready to enjoy the day and have to fumble around with boards that are sitting in the floor, on seats, etc...but that is just me.

Props to you for stepping up to help get this resolved. Hope that everyone is happy in the end...
There have been a few members on here that have also asked the same question and why Tige did not do a masive recall on these racks. I can not vouch for Tige on that and I personally was a little concerned about why they didn't.

For the sake of everyone that owns a 2006 rack, we will see what Tige does with the PM that I sent to Harvey and Andrew about this. This is our first step and I am sure Tige will step up and do the right thing.

Thank you for the props. Posting Whores like me can do things and get them resolved.

Our dealer has gotten back to us in a timely manner. He wants us to take the racks off and get them to the shop where they will weld the weak link to the plate. I would rather just receieve new uprights because I am afraid the welds will crack and this will become an ongoing problem year to year to get it fixed.
Yes, that is the fix that Tige suggests or has provided to the 2006 racks. However, I have heard from my dealer and on this website that Tige is replacing the racks with 2007 racks. But, we will see what Andrew and Harvey have to say about the PM sent regarding this issue. Time will only tell but patience is needed.

Chpthrill, how well that stand up to the test of time. I have heard that the weld has not held on a few racks but I could be delusional thinking this to.

Very true but I already sent the PM yesterday and found this out today. The timing is kind of interesting if you ask me. I will wait until I hear from Andrew or Harvey on my PM. If no response in a reasonable time, then I will contact the person in the article. But, I am sure Tige will step up here.

There has been plenty of communication between Tige and myself. Tige did address this issue by two means. From what I understand, the dealers are being instructed by Tige to either upgrade to the 07 design by either installing new up-rights or drilling the current ones. The other solution is to install the 07's and swap the up-rights from side to side and you wont need the lock-handle or to drill the up-right.

I believe some of the delay may lay with the dealers not pursuing a solution but waiting for Tige to just drop a fix on thier door steps.

I am having a set of 07's modified so that they will work just like the 06's, no need for a lock-handle or swapping up-rights. I hope to pick them up today and will post pics as soon as I can.

I like the features of the 06 racks and that little bar that allows the racks to swivel. That lock-handle idea sucks but I could live with it. It is just another piece of hardware on the boat that I have to make sure does not get stolen or lost.

So the 07 racks don't swivel like the 06's? I really like the swivel feature for docking puposes.

Mine were welded last July 06 and I found 1 weld had cracked in mid May 07. It was, by the way, the weld that I have pictured. It was the shortest of the 4 beads.

If the first step of machining works, I will look into ways to reinforce the swivel better than just a couple of welds. As I posted earlier, Tige has a solution but I do not like the 07 screw in hold-down handle so I am pursuing a fix that will be more like the 06 design that I purchases.

The 07 do swivel. They just don't have the pin like the 06's do and lock in three places. The 07's only lock to the outside from what I can see but I could be wrong... However, still functional IMO.

Let us know the outcome. I am with you on this. I prefer the 06 swivel to the 07 swivel.

They swivel just the same as the 06's but the lock-handle was added to the 07 design to hold the load of the boards when the racks are swiveled out thus preventing breakage.

From what I see, the 07's only lock in one position (out) were the 06's lock in three places (out, in, and back). Am I wrong with this?
