    2007 22 Ve Carpet odor???

I have a new 22Ve and the carpet smells awful. I have tried soap and water, lysol, and nothing seems to work. It smells like cat p**s. The dealer called the area sales rep and he said just spray febreeze on it. I dont think that will help. The boats at the dealership have the same smell? I have tried leaving the boat out in the sun to dry it out but nothing has helped. You can not even lay your towels or vest on the carpet because they get the smell on them and you can hardly stand it. Anybody else having this problem?

No issues here. Wonder if they got a bad batch of glue or something? Sorry to hear this! Welcome to the site!

Have you had some carpet cleaners come out and clean the boat carpet? You might want to try that one. My boat doesn't have this issue.

Febreeze will work for you...it works wonders on my smelly, sweaty hockey equipment...I'd suggest getting the anti-bacterial Febreeze.

Mine smelled...not as bad as yours I think, but to fix this I started using a product called odoban and soaked the carpet with freshwater and vacuumed it with a shopvac. It took a few times to get the carpet to stop smelling but it does not smell anymore.

Mine doesn't smell either.. I wonder if it has to do w/ the humidity or something.. da.bell and I are from CA and we haven't had the problem. Sounds like a lot of you are coming from a pretty humid climate.. Maybe it's b/c it dries out really well out here in Cali.. Just my

                    Might just be cat pee...
A buddy of mine had a cat using his boat for it's own personal litter box.
He had to get it professionally cleaned to get the smell out.

My bow carpet smells really bad when it gets wet. I have not found a remedy yet other than it becoming totally dry which takes many days in the sun. I need to try some of these suggestions.

I have the cat urine smell also. It does well once it dries out. I think that it is getting less with time. One of these days I will get around to getting it professionally steam cleaned. I can't tell if it is the carpet in the walkway or the bow.

Thanks for the input, My dealer told me today they will have it cleaned for me next week. I will let you know if it fixes the problem. While I was at my dealer today I took the sales manager out to his new boat inventory and let him smell the carpet. Every one of the boats we went to had the awful smell in the carpet. They are going to try and find a solution to this. I will keep you posted

We had the same deal with our boat from what the GF said. I didn't smell it but it seems to have gone away in time.

My 2006 22' Ve has the same problem. When the carpets get wet we have to wet dry vac them, then run fans for four or five days. Fabreeze helps but the odor returns. If I leave the cover on when the carpet is not completely dry, mold and mildew grows in the lockers and under the bench seats. I attribute it to plush carpets that hold moisture and no ventilation.
