I have gone over to the dark side!

I have succumbed to the dark side in that I ended up buying an Ipod
I own a Zen, Sony, and a few Rio MP3 players and love them. However, my Alpine stereo has a direct connect for iPod and after using my son's iPod in the boat, I noticed three advantages:

    1. It charges the iPod for you - This is big on multiple day camping trips at Lake Powell.

    2. It sounds better due to the direct connection.

    3. I can control the iPod with the Alpine head.

So, I bought a refurbished 80 GB iPod video.

good call. I love my I-pod and my Alpine HU. And it is easy to find a song using the Alpine. Best I-pod integration on the market!

Dark Side? I must be the friggin lord of the sith. I have an ipod for my boat, one for my truck, my wife and I both have shuffles, 3 of my kids have em, I have several from past generations, I have owned one of each generation since the very first one. Oh yeah, I also have an apple tv and an my iphone ships to me on 7/13.

One great thing I do with my ipod:

We all love music, and iTunes is like my crack. I find new music and share with my kids, and they are always asking me to use my computer to update their pods. I own a small software development firm, so I am always on it, so there isn't that much time. The kids all have 2 playlists on my machine. They have 1 for their ipods, and one for wakeboarding. Each kid, even my 6 yr old has a 30 min playlist of their choice, which I sync to the boat ipod before we go out. Then when it is the kids turn to board, we put on their playlist. We even have signals so that the boarder can FF and RW tracks while they board. The boarder is in charge, it is very cool and makes it alot of extra fun. I love seeing my kids out there singing and grooving while boarding.

So a couple of great songs to groove to:

Beating Hearts Baby by Head Automatica

So Whatcha Want by The Beastie Boys

          Rebel Yell by Kill Hannah

          Overweight by Blue October

          Several songs by The Fratellis

          Have fun with you pod.

I've been fighting it. My wife has an IPod and loves it, I have a samsung mp3 player and my Sony walkman phone which has a 4 gig card in it. I love Window's Media player. ITunes is ok I just hate that Apple is forcing you to use there software. And that once you download a song into Itunes you can't use it anywhere else.

Just my complaining. I am fighting the dark side, we'll see how much longer I can hold out!

Apple has pushed for no DRM for a while. And now many songs on iTunes are DRM free, so you can use them anywhere and on any computer. When more labels allow, it will allow more songs to be DRM free. It is the labels that force the DRM, not apple.

oh, ok. Thanks for letting me know that.

The only thing I don't like about having the ipod on the deck now is I can't use my otter box. But I guess that really doesn't matter since I can just put the ipod in the glove box and forget it.

I have mine in my glove box, and my clarion remotes allow me to see the name of the song from the ipod, you have to change the playlists from the deck though. It would be nice to change the playlist from the remotes.

Why is Apple succesful, Becuase they correct all of Microsofts mistakes.

Don't feel bad, I got an 80 Gb video for my birthday about a month ago. It was the kids idea. So, I ordered the cable for my home hifi system and my Kenwood HU. It's so much nicer to be able to control the iPod through the HU. I can skip through playlists and songs within playlists. Best of all, my remote works with it now, too.
