    Local fiberglass / gel-coat help?

Thanks to some Fourth of July boat wake, wind, and an exposed screw head on my friend's dock my '04 20V now has two quarter sized chinks out of the white, gel-coated fiberglass. Not in very deep, but noticeable on the driver's side near the bow.

Anyone familiar with Seattle area fiberglass repair shops, or should I get in touch with the dealer?

How about ball-park repair costs for this? Looks like it needs just a bit of sanding and filling and re-coating. What about reparing it myself, anyone had any luck with that?

Also, the rub-rail looks bent down a bit where the dock abuse occured. Can that be bent back in place? Straightened, etc?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is a gel coat DYI kit that can be purchased and I have seen it recommended on here before. I would think that if it is in the white area, I would do it yourself. I am going to order the kit and will post a little write up in the technical section with a small mishap I have in my gelcoat if I ever get around to it. (don't hold your breath).

I tried a search, but came up empty.

Like this kit: I have never done this, but I think that it would not be too hard.

Or this one might be better depending on how deep the damage is. THis one says Gelcoat repair...

I will check into both of those, hopefully the dings are shallow enough that it won't require professional work. Thanks

Good info, tall, thanks for posting. I got a scratch in my gelcoat this past weekend when one of my kids put a board in a board rack without telling me...the boot lacing got caught on my lift and cause me to hit my guides a little too hard.
