My 12 year old has been the least interested in water sports until this year. Last year, I finally got him to go wake boarding, but he was just happy to get up and only go once. This year he has picked up wakeskating, is trying to jump on the wakeboard, and two days ago on his 3rd try, he threw in the rope and surfed for 2 minutes. Ahaney, I think that every kid has his timing and he will pick up on it soon.
We took out one of the young woman that he has a crush on last night with us from church. Guess what she got right up and had a blast. He could not let her do it and show him up. After all his parents own the boat he should know how to do this. He put on the wake board and first try right out of the water he came. Then he tried to cross the wake. He caught the front edge of the board and SUPER-MANED the water. We heard the slap all the way in the boat. But he took it good. When we got back to him he just said that was stupid to try and cross the wake on the first time getting up this year and second time ever. Any ways I guess peer pressure is a good thing some times.
That is awesome! Dog mentioned it earlier, peer pressure is an awesome thing in getting kids to try stuff. My oldest son learned to ski because of my friend's daughter who got up before him.

Nothin' like a little testosterone to make them do crazy stuff!
