So just one question on changing the packing and/or tightening the nut on a v-drive. Do you need to be a contortionist? I can just barely fit both hands down there and can't see a damn thing I'm doing. Aside from standing on my head or taking the whole back of the boat apart any suggestions?

I have the PRE2150 and its right there in the open. Not sure how the 2200 would be different. Have you taken the engine cover off? Either that or there should be an access panel that comes up right over it. Not sure. If you can post a pic or two maybe I could help more. Otherwise there are a few guys on here with a 2200. Maybe they'll chime in.
Oh, I just read that its a v-drive. duh. One of the other guys will have to help, never seen a 2200 v-drive in person. But I'll bet there is an easy way to get at it.
Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.
I don't have a good pic of the engine compartment though. Maybe I'll see if someone at the Lake Mead reunion has an idea. If not I'm sure Matt will take my business.
Your Pre 2200 looks like an older version of my boat. There's a fiberglass box-like thing underneath the rear seat that you should be able to remove to see your V-Drive. On mine, you can even lift the rear seat back up and out of the way.
Take some pics with your rear seat cushions removed and maybe I can point out where you remove some screws. It literally takes 5 min to break that down on my boat.
