Taps at 4 gets me the max speed.

I only get 42 and don't feel I have the greatest hole shot with a boat load. Maybe time to reprop? I like hole shot over speed any day. I need to do some research and find what I have now and where I want to go from here.

That doesn't make sense. The TAPS plate creates more drag at 0 then at 7. The boat might have more of a tendency to porpoise with a higher taps setting but the boat should have a higher speed.

38 with TAPS at 0, 43 with TAPS at 4-5 with some porpoising--both #'s with 5 people in the boat. 22i/5.7L 340 hp.

44.2 GPS, 24 VE 340HP. Taps at 3. I can watch the speed decrease if I go higher or lower on Taps with constant RPM.

                    That’s the problem!
35 is as fast as I can with out proposing if taps is higher then 0

42-45, depending on wind conditions, bimini & # of surfboards in the racks.

well this last week at powell i got the idea that i wanted to jump out of my boat going fast. i started at 20 and ended up jumping out as fast as the boat would go with 1000 pounds ballast and 7 guys. when i jumped out it was going 42 and that was all she had.... probably not a good idea

                          Ouch.

I was at Powell this week and decided to open the throttle up. I was surprised that I cannot get the boat to go over 35 with 12 people in the boat and about 300 pounds in gear I usually don't have (cooler, water, chairs, kitchen sink, that kind of stuff). I have the FAE, which also might make a difference. There were 2 men and 3 adult sized women, and then 7 kids from 12 to age 3. So I guess the people weight was about 1100 pounds or so. The wakeboard wake was very nice...but top end was not so good when it is getting dark, and you are 10 miles from the marina.
