    Boy Scout Aquatics Camp Pics

My Tige, 2 sons and myself spent last week living in tents at Bear Lake for our annual scout camp. We had another boat up there and we had 22 scouts. About 18 earned their Motorboating merit badge and about 12 earned their waterskiing merit badge. The water was clear and only around 60 degrees, but we had smooth water most of the time:

Hows this for a wake? We were in 150 feet of clear turquoise water:
I got 4 other leaders hooked on wakesurfing:
Also my oldest son took the scuba course:
I was on the water most of the day until sun down.
The days were hot and the nights were cold, but it was a memorable time:

The best Scout Camp I've ever seen!
            That water is unreal!
            Good job Moki!
If you dropped something in the water you could send the SCUBA team after it. Did your son get certified?

Strong work! Those will be memories to last a lifetime.

Looks like you really got the goofy side surf wake going big!
              Be excellent to one another.

Thanks Wannabee, we are very fortunate, our Venture Crew from our neighborhood were out at the same week to Flaming Gorge resevoir and they had two boats go with them.

He didn't get Certified, although they offered it, he chose to just do the intro dive and then he worked on shotgun, small boat sailing, waterskiing, motorboating and the unofficial wakesurfing and wakeboarding.

Thanks Tall, it was your boat that inspired me to get the fat sacs and loud tower speakers. It wants to be like your boat when it grows up- Perfect Pass and an automated ballast system are next.

I am a merit badge counselor for waterskiing. We have stretched the requirements a little and since there is no wakeboarding merit badge, let wakeboarding count as waterskiing.

I figure any wake to wake jump is as good as slaloming.

Agreed, we did the same! They had to get up and wakeboard for 30 seconds, cross both wakes and back to the center three times, then either do a jump or some other trick like a "fakie" to show proficiency. All of the other requirements like hand signals and safety, we left the same. Just bringing Scouting into the 21st century

thats fun. back in the day of boyscouts i went to bear lake aqautics camp 3 years in a row and it was way fun, and my dad allways brought the boat down for just about everyday. but back then the boat was a 19 reinnel and we had some 18-20 scouts.

bear lake is beautifull but ive never seen water like that after 7 in the morning though. you guys got lucky, thats great

It is great that the kids had the chance to do an outing with a boat. Looks like they had a great time also.

Moki, that is an awsome scout camp, I was an assistant dive master there a few years back for a couple weeks. I think you were dreaming of 60 degree water, it doesn't hit that until August. Did your boy dive out to the old cabin cruiser or did they limit that to the kids certifying?

Glad to see you out with the scouts. I took kids for three years to Flaming Gorge as the Explorer leader. Then when my boy got in the new guy decided scouting only meant hiking and tenting, no boating. They have gone into the Uintahs the last two years, I went last year with them, it's not as much fun. I took a non official group of scouts last year to Pineview for three days to give them an equal experience to the ones the boys got when I was a leader, they just love boating more. This year I am sure will be doing the same thing later this summer.
My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.
