Anyone know where the name Tige came from?

And what it means if anything?

    2. What is the origin of the name “Tigé”?
During the early 1990s Tigé looked to differentiate itself by creating a one-of-a-kind name that embodied quality, performance and uniqueness – qualities inherent to the Tigé product. The decision was made to base the name on the word Tiger, the childhood nickname of the company’s founder, Charlie Pigeon. By dropping the “r” and adding an accent over the “é”, the name originated with a European flair that complimented the flowing, euro-design of the company’s first boat models and further differentiated the brand from the competition.

          This is what I understand.

Charlie Pigeon was nicknamed Tiger when he was younger and the name has stuck with him all of his life. When he was with another boat company (supra), he then decided to make a break and get his own company going. He wanted to call it Tiger boats, but that was already taken. So he shortened it to Tige and felt that was good.

Here is the complet BS part that I am going to make up: If you lived in Boston, if you called someone 'tiger' it would come out Tiguh, so maybe he is from the northeast? So maybe that is what his buddies called him.

Eh tiguh, wanna go fouh some chowduh?

You guys beat me to it while I was typing. But I like my explanation better, since it is clear you are plagiarizing.

I don't buy any 'European flair' bogus crap.
