    Flying Rack!

Never could see this one coming.

Just getting ready for a run. I give the thumbs up to go.

Then... Kind of a double jolt then it ripped out of my hands, then I see my boy holding his head. I was wondering what hit him. I though maybe he fell over when the boat moved. but why would the rope jolt like that?

took us a second to figure out that the rope got caught on the wake board rack, and when my friend hit the gas it busted right of and smashed my friend in the head before sinking in the lake. The bolts broke right off. I'm surprised that it actually snapped right off like that so easily. I thought maybe it would pull me a little.

My friend has a nice sized lump on his dome. has this ever happened to anyone before?

My Tige rep says they may also be warrantied, but he wasn't 100% sure. I called after 5.

Ouch....hope your buddy is ok, we are real anal about the rope when getting a rider up....a quick 1-2 check of the rope and youngins and we are off. Sorry I cannot help but hope all is well with the injured!

Tigeblue, I had the EXACT thing happen to me. I was driving and my oldest was wakeboarding. The rope got caught in the starboard side of the boat and yanked the arm out of the rack and hit my 8 year old in the noggin and lost the arm in the lake also. Apparently, Folsom Lake likes Tige Wakeboard Rack arms.....

Okay, now for some news that you might not see fitting. The 2006 wakeboard racks had a defect that the screws where not long enough and Tige either recalled them or told the dealers that they would fix them when broke. I am not sure about the 2007 models but I know that this is a problem with the 2006 models. I just found out that my other rack on the port side was starting to have the whole mount come apart last week. I didn't notice it until I took my upright down to start the process of removing the powder coating because we are having the powder coat chip away under normal wear and tear and it isn't under warranty (already have gone there and got the big no from both dealer and Tige). At that time, I removed he rack and took it to the dealership and knew that my problem was under warranty. I hope that your problem is under warranty but just wanted to let you know what I have noticed or knew. The dealership will definitely do the right thing so you don't have to worry there.

i always check to make sure the rope is clear before engaging, whether I'm driving or boarding and I watch my driver. Just something I do. I hope you all do the same too, as I'd hate to see someone really get hurt.

Our racks are rock solid, there is no way in hell that those things would come off!

The other day my dad was pulling in on the side of a dock and the roof supports kind of stuck out over the water, usually I pull in on an angle, but he can straight in and BAM! the whole put stopped, the board rack had hit the pole, it bent the plate it was mounted to but didnt move at all. I was really surprised it didnt do more damage then it did.

yeah me to. Though I didn't notice it caught. From now on I will be more cautions. Glad to know its warrantied im going to call them today. Da bell it Sucks because I have to drive about 45 mins to rancho Cordova. Rocklin doesn't stock parts or have a service department.

Remove the rack so you don't have to pull the boat. Just takes a simple hex tool to remove. Glad that the dealer is doing this for you. They all are very good at the shop.

The service rep at Capital Water Sports is who you need to talk to. But, you also need to make sure that they take it bad because of the warranty (I know you are trying this). I don't think that the 07 racks are warranty available because I think they fixed it.

Chpthril, can you chime into this topic?????

You rang (in our best Lurch voice)

Tigeblue, does your 07 racks have the "screw down" bolt (see pic) that holds the load of the rack to the billet up-right? and it still broke? If not, then you might have the 06 racks . Can you post a pic, of the one not at the bottom of the lake

Like Da.bell said, take the rack, not the boat. 4 Allen bolts and it's off the tower. Also, see if your Dealer can have Lee @ Tige just ship you one to the house.

same thing happened to us except thankfully no one was hit with it, the only thing that came off was the one arm, we came back to the dealer and had it replaced just like that

Sorry the tower is folded down right now.

As you can see i just lost the forks. The flat piece is still there. Those bolts snapped right off. I was thinking about putting longer ones in there. Maybe some lock tight as well. Hell I will even weld them on there now that I know this can happen.

Turns out that they are not warrantied if the rope is the cause. But my Tige rep is a coolmofo so he hooked it up.

hey da bell when we gonna take some runs. Folsom is great at 6 am! Best time to go! I need more drivers, or lets take your boat out

Oh yeah, Those 2 bolt were never designed to handle that amount of load. They do have loc-tite on them, I've had about 1/2 dozen or so apart (long story ) Longer bolts will break just as easy as the ones used as they will be the same diameter. Larger diameter bolts would be the fix, but larger holes would not leave enough meat to hold the bolts so they would either strip out or the arms would break.

Not what you probably wanted to hear, sorry. Prevention is the best fix, appoint you a Gilligan to be the rope monitor
