The speed based setting just seems to be revving up and down and therefore taking away and giving tension on the handle. I know that everyone has their favorite way of doing something.......but we just prefer the constant pull on the handle from the RPM mode. Just my
i need to try that. I have the same issues you do in the speed, I'll try the RPM next time i'm out.

It can be set to check the speed more often, and that will decrease the swings in speed. The owner's manual should tell you how to do that. Mine was initially set to check the speed too rarely, and I fixed it and have never had one complaint. I don't even have to mess with the throttle on a double up.

I have never had a problem with the speed based mode. I can't help but think that once a person pulls hard on my boat and slows it down, if the RPM's are held stable, it will take 5-10 seconds or more to get it back to the speed we like. It would take even longer with heavy ballast. I have never tried it in RPM mode, but it just does not make sense to me.

i need to try this setting. I"ll look into this tonight.

I've found that the speed mode works best for anything under 25 Mph, because of the plane of the boat and the prop speed. Over 25 Mph, RPM mode is the most accurate.

Yeah I agree..........with PP if you go wide open you will be WAY above your RPM/SPEED. I haven't used Accuset yet..........but I know for my own PP that would never work. Hence people pulling out to fast and having me riding @ 26+mph! that kinda sucks

do not think that is right. read the book on it

BTW, if you're pulling a wakeboarder or wakesurfer, you don't want to go WOT. Waterskiers are a different story, but then you want to get to 30+ Mph as fast as you can.

I usually push my throttle to between 2700 and 3000 RPMs and let PerfectPass take over. I'm rarely more than a mile an hour over the set speed. My PerfectPass has been working fine for me and I've got over 300 hours on the unit.

Yeah thats true, When I pull my dad trick skiing if I touch the throttle once up to speed it will still change it. I dont pull anyone through a slalom course but I was in the boat the other day durring a ski clinic and once the skiier is up they slam the throttle down to get up to speed before the course.
