Box anchors work excellent, especially, in soft lake & river bottoms.

I have not used in on a river, but the box anchor would work great even in current...unless you are trying to stop in the middle of the colorado river rapids.
      Be excellent to one another.

Mike that is classic - now I know what to get for her next birthday - an "anchor winch" t-shirt!

Don't forget the anchor buddy line for the box anchor. It all fits right inside the box anchor bag. This set up is awesome, so easy and the boat won't move. If you had a couple anchor Wenches to deploy it that would certainly be best!LOL

It works best in soft stuff, but I have to imagine on a rocky river bottom it will have as good a hold as anything. I use my small box all the time and it does work well on what I would call a "pebbley" bottom.
