    Anybody?

Not to get to personnel but I have a friend that is a big fella, not overwieght just a big guy, I think 6'7'' and is 300 lbs. He wants to try wakeboarding.

My concern is the amount of pull on the tower, 1. from being a beginner and 2. his wieght.

Anyone with any experience with this?
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

My opinion, the new towers are extremly stucy, Theres one way to find out, I wouldn't do it if I had a 99/01 metcrap, you might break the welds hahaha

shouldn't be an issue. However, you should probably watch carefully anyway, especially when he pulls up.

I guarantee you some of the falls I take exert over 300lbs for a split second, just in resistance alone.

Good point Gschmidt! Also there are a lot of people who tow tubes from the tower and there is a HUGE amount of force being exerted on the tower when you are whipping a tube around w/ a few people on it. It shouldn't be a problem but definitely keep an eye on it in the beginning.
If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..

You might want to spend a little extra time on the technique of pulling up before you actually try. I have also found that on newbys, a real short rope helps get them up till they get the feel for it. good luck

Good idea chp, last summer my brother brought one of his friends who had never boarded before and I was very frustrated that we couldn't get him up all day. The wife and I pride ourselves on being able to get anyone up on a board by their third attepmt. I just wrote it off to having more muscle than brain but maybe we'll try the shorter rope if he comes out again.

We have had no problems, and I am 270, and we do have a 2000 metcrap tower. It has never seemed to hurt it at all.

                Your tower will be fine.

Being a big dude, he will try and muscle his way up and won't get the hang of it anyway.

Sorry, I am speaking out of frustration at how often girls and kids get right up because they don't muscle their way out of it. The worst people to teach is anyone who has gotten up on a slalom ski before.

Agree 100%!! My son is 6'1" 195 and can get on top of the water at just barely over idle speed. It takes full power for me to even consider getting up. Being a slalom skiier, boarding is just not fun yet for me. Maybe now that we have a bigger board it will be a little easier. It is so easy to say let the boat do the work, and so hard to do!!

I am overweight and was 280 when started to wakeboard. Just get it through his head no pulling. Just roll shoulders and up. No issue on my tower
                    Let it be!!!

I am pretty close to your friend at 6'7" and 290. Make sure you have a big board for him to use or it won't be fun for anyone. I ride a Double-Up Soul that's a 145. It's easy for me to get up and ride.

                      The tower should be fine.

I'm 6'5" and 235lbs - My brother in law is 5'9" and 170lbs - didn't have any problem with the tower pulling us at the same time. We only did this a couple of times as I was bragging about the hole shot on my Tige vs. my buddies 2000 ski centurion. An example had to be MADE!
