So, it shows Perfect Pass coming from the back of the boat and hooking on the throttle control lever, but in order for it to apply throttle it will have to push the throttle control lever forward when all it can do is pull it backwards. Do you have the Black Scorpion Engine as well?
Well dont forget that when you apply throttle it will pull it towards the front and if you have too much throttle it will pull it back and if there is not enough, I think a little indicator comes up on the display showing you need to apply more throttle so it can adjust. The spring is there so the servo can push the throttle, and when it accelerates to the desired speed the servo stops and if it need to slow down a tough it will pull it back. It can only push the throttle forward to what you have the manual throttle opened up to.

OK, I think that I am starting to get it. When throttle is applied, the PerfectPass servo stays stationary until it reaches its speed and then it begins to unroll the cable to create slack in the line and the spring will pull the throttle back and slows the boat down. If it starts to go too slow, it tightens up the slack which pulls the throttle forward but no further than what you have set at the helm. Your line about that it cannot accelerate beyond what throttle you have set helped me to understand, PP cannot push the throttle beyond what you have set at the helm. It can only go as fast as the throttle and that is why you get the message that you need to apply more throttle and when it reaches the correct speed, it "loosens" the cable to slow it down.

Thanks for helping me to understand I was going crazy there for a while trying to figure it out. It's true, teenagers sometimes can be useful

No, the PP wheel is closer towards the transom. There is quite a bit of room between the manifold and PP. If you do the scoop thru hull for ballast it is recomended that they not be on the same side.
        Let it be!!!

I helped a buddy put a PP on his 22V and we put the PW opposite the water intake. I also installed it on my I/O and it closer to transom. The placement is sorta an art but luckily there is enough info out there PP can tell you where to place it. (I assume you want to make the hole in the best spot the 1st time) :-)

Yeah so the perfect pass doesnt do anything until it hits the desired speed then it will beep and take over, pulling the throttle and letting out slack so the spring can push it as need to keep a constant speed.
Usually what i do is when it beeps i push it down just a little, If you push it down too much the boat will speed up until the servo has time to adjust to slow it down.

Your instructions say to take out the tachometer because it is pretty much a useless instrument anyway. Usually there is a rev limiter that will tell you when you have hit the red line. I think they say that just to give you a spot to put the dial, right?

On mine, there is a nice little spot for it on the right side.

On my boat there wasn't and I suspect Moki's in the same boat. I replaced my speedo because it wasn't very accurate anyway. I use the Tachometer a lot, so I wasn't ready to get rid of it just yet.

I agree about the speedometer being kinda useless. On our old '95 Tige we never used the either of the dual speedometers b/c they weren't accurate at all. We always boarded and surfed based on RPM's b/c they were much more accurate than the speedometers. IMO if your boat has 2 speedometers.. they probably don't work very well!!

*&))^&*(_*(!!! I was so close to being done today. I got my hole cut and my paddle wheel put in, I had my throttle servo mounted and hooked up to the throttle cable. All I needed to do was run the wires and then install the main unit and display. I was fishing my paddle wheel wire through the side of the boat in with all my other wires. Bad idea, some where in one of the plastic tubes the wire got stuck and I could not get it out for the life of me. I finally had to just cut the wire. Now, I will need to order a whole new paddle wheel assembly and I am taking my boat to Bear Lake on Monday for a scout camp. I had to put my throttle assembly back to stock and will have to reorder and finish another day.

                        Evil0ne - yes those icons.

Tall - Unfortunately my stereo is in that location probably like Dog's, but I like that spot, thanks for the pic!.

Dog / Wakeboarder - I use my tach as well (to see if the engine is running when playing the stereo loud ) but the PP does display RPM, I will have to think about that, Dog did you just run another wire from your tach to PerfectPass?

Sorry for your troubles. PP won't display RPM by default. It shows speed. The only time you'll see the RPMs is when PP is in RPM mode (I never use this option).

Just replace your speedo...it's not that accurate anyways.

Kind of a Late thought, but theres a new system called Zero Off thats supposed to pass Perfect Pass because it uses GPS instead of a paddle wheel and magnets. Supposably its dead on accurate but I dont have any experience with it.

I would replace the speedo not the tach. The perfect pass has a speed read out on it for a speedometer.

I have a PRM display on my PP, it is version 6.5 so maybe it is new feature. I replaced speedy on my boat. The GPS based speed control is interesting to me (cause I am a dork) , I wonder/worry data sampling rate when it triangulates the speed, it could have quite a lag. Anyone have any 1st hand experience?
