    So long 8.1L!

I'm pretty bummed. I've been waiting for months to get my RZ4 with an 8.1L and it looks as though it's not going to happen. Due to a couple compatibility issues between the motor and the Tige fuel system the venture has been postponed. I appreciate Tige and Marine Power trying to make it happen, but it will have to wait until my next boat. Hopefully, they can get everything dialed in before then. Maybe Tige will build a 26 or 28ft monster I can put the 8.1L or two 5.7L's in. Why not?

In lieu of the 8.1L, I asked them to use the 5.7HO, which I've heard great things about through different Tige sources. I'm sure the boat will still be sweet! Best of all, I can now actually get my RZ4.

Too bad, sorry to read it, big 8.1 lovers here,,, but,,
The 5.7 is excellent, the fuel burn very good too.

We just sold our half-a-mile per gallon (non-Tige) boat, ( that's 2 gallons per mile boat )and are really looking forward to our new 5.7 equipped Tige being delivered this July.
Every 25 minutes of towing we had to re-fuel another 47 gallons,, that got old real quick at $3.60 per gal / $4.30 at the gas docks.
& $167 to $200 per tankfull so, a few hours wakeboarding was almost $700.

I would recon your performance isn't going to be a whole lot different, and with the 5.7 you'll be all lake tuned and dialed in outta the box., and run several days on a tank of regular gas.

Your re-sale will be colossal when the rz6 comes out and you consider moving again to another Tige'.

It's all good with the 5.7. It's a fuel sipping steamer in the awesome Tige' tuned configuration.

Just heard that today from the my Tige dealer. No 8.1L in the RZ4. He said that the 5.7L HO will work great in the RZ4. Hope you get your boat soon!

My tige dealer was telling me that the performance difference between the 8.1 and the 5.7 was nominal. Apparently during testing the 5.7 had a better top end than the 8.1 and the 6.0. I think I really only would have picked up a nasty hole shot with the 8.1. I'm psyched either way! I'll get some pics out to everyone when it shows up.

It would have been nice up here but you would be carrying extra weight and they don't rev as quickly. I think you'll be happy with the 5.7HO motor, I have the 340hp in my RZ2 and I am very happy with how it performs at our altitude.

Did you mean 5.7 HT as in High Torque, instead of 5.7 HO ?

sorry to hear that. Still, the 5.7HT should be plenty of power- even for an RZ4. I think I'm going to hold out for a marine turbodiesel.

Matt, my dealer always referes to the motors as 5.7 and 5.7HO, I didn't know it was HT. Scratch all the HO's. That sounds bad!

That is what I was told 5.7HO=high output.

They need some kind of Powerstroke or Duramax option.

                              BSNOOK212,
We have the same Tige dealer so that's probably why we both thought it was a 5.7HO.
