go have it fixed by someone with a form. I wouldn't operate it with them bent. You won't need a new one, just have them fix it and you will be golden. just make sure they have a form for it, and not doing it by eye.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

My local prop shop will remove and replace the prop for free, but I also have a prop puller with my spare prop. A prop puller and spare prop are worth the money and spare can save an entire weekend. I know from experience!! Find a reputable shop, and call them, they might remove and replace for free as well.

Acme, the only way to go. Call them, and tell them what you have, and they can fix you up. Buy a new one, and then use your old one for a spare after you have it fixed. Ordered my Acme prop on line several years ago. My spare is a stainless steel cutter. Much tougher prop, but it is not nearly as smooth.

Definitely call ACME and buy a prop puller kit as well.

If its just a minor bend, you "CAN" take an adjustable wrench (like a pipe wrench but smaller), adjust it down so it just barely fits over the blade, and carefully bend it back.
This is not a permanant fix, but it can get you through a weekend. I've dinged mine a couple of times coming into our ramp when the water is low. That has worked fine for me. But if its a major bend, you run the risk of breaking the piece off.Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.

Depending on the amount of vibration, you could:
bend the drive shaft
weaken the strut mount
ruin the strut bearings (not fun to replace)
ruin the thru-hull seal
transfer the vibration to the tranny/engine causing who knows what problems
IMO there is nothing to be gained by running with a bent prop. even a little wobble can lead to these issues, it will just take longer.
If its just a minor issue, use the method I stated earlier, if its major, just get it either fixed or replaced.Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.

Couldn't say yes or no. I would buy a new prop or repair the one that is on the boat. Put the new/old prop on and see if there is any vibrations. I would say for sure that you have shortened the expected live of the list from jleger98 but it wouldn't hurt to have the dealer look at it also.Last edited by da.bell; 07-09-2007, 05:14 PM.
