Strange leaking problem

The past couple times I have had my boat out it seems that I have an unusual amount of water in the bilge area. I have tightened the leaking packing seal, and the plug is in. Not sure what else to check. I did have an issue with my first trip this year. A hose on one of my ballast bags cam unhooked and I did not catch it until there was water up to and over the drive belt.(no the bilge did not come on) Fixed the bilge and the hose, but still getting water in from somewhere.

I have let it sit in the water and cant see where water is seeping in, same with it running. Any suggestions would be great.

I would check anywhere that water passes through the engine. example; heads at block and manifold joints, exhaust risers and maifolds, freeze plugs, circ pump, etc. Water can come from vitually anywhere and not be noticeable.

I would check all the hoses, clamps, and plugs, especially the ones that were removed for winterizing (if any) first.

Next, you might have to spin it across the lake while you or someone looks for the leak. Good luck

I just had one of the engine block drain plugs (for water) break on me and it did the same thing. You might check the seals on each of these (they're blue plastic pitcocks). There's a rubber seal for each of these that can start leaking and they're plastic, so they definitely can break off (like mine did). My dealer is now recommending that they get changed every 2 years.

I forgot to tighten a clamp last weekend after changing out valve stem seals. It let me know when water started coming past the bilge cover. Needless to say I have to change my tranny fluid now. Bilge pump was spraying and couldn't keep up.

Take the engine cover off and run it across the lake while someone looks to see where its coming in. Also, make sure you check the frost plugs - they are the round inverted cap thing underneath the spark plugs right on the block.
