Put the docking lights in there and then get the LED side marker lights like the RZ2's have. They are pretty small and almost unnoticeable.

Zad is right, you are better off running in the dark. Your "night vision" will let you see way further.

We are out after dark alot and I find I can see better if I stand up and lean over the dash so I don't have the glare from the dash lights.

You mean the standard red and green navigation lights, or do you mean something else?

In my post I am referring to lights on the front of the boat. Tower lights are definitely useless, they just reflect off the vinyl and make it so you can't see where you are going.

If the lights on the front of the boat illuminate your approach to the trailer, then don't they illuminate your path in the dark? Similar to headlights in a car?

Think of them as mounted flashlights.

They do help for docking/trailering, but do not shine 70-80 feet ahead like head lights. They will also blind any oncoming boaters and block out YOUR nav lights so any approaching boats will not know you are moving, they will think it is the 360 anchor light

On the RZ2 the navigation lights are LED's that are pretty small and have a nice chrome shield over them. You could replace your nav lights with the docking lights and then put the LED's above just under the drip rails and back a bit further.

Option #1287755443312 is to put white LED lights along the trailer frame rails on the inside like my new EZ Loader Illusion trailer has.

The docking lights were part of the ss package on the limited models in 2005. I love em as they are great for finding the boarder after dark when there's no moon.

My experience is, lights wont light up whats not there to illuminate. I had a 5 or 10 million candle power light, it didnt do much at all out on open water, except make it worse when it is lighting up your bow interior. bow lights mounted out front under the rub rail could be a help for docking, as mentioned, but not for seeing much distance.

You are correct, they are not headlights, they only illuminate whats in front of you about 25 or 30 feet.

I would definitely put in the docking lights. They help when docking at night but to everyone else's point they don't shine very far in front of the boat while driving at night. In regards to the bow navigation lights I would get the red and green in led. Our 24VE has them as led and the colors are bright and crisp. We were considering getting the pop up bow nav. lights and were discouraged to do so by the dealer. He said that it works great for the first year and looks really clean but in his experience the spring wears out after a year and it tends to pop up on it's own and not always stay down as it should. Either way I think the black docking lights are going to look sick.....

I hate docking lights at night. Of course, I'm extremely familiar with the lakes I'm usually on, so it's not a problem. I have a portable Q-Beam hand held light for emergencies, but I haven't used it since I bought my boat new.

As for the tower lights, the only use I could see for them would be wakeboarding/surfing at night and that's illegal here in Texas, so I don't see a point to having.

Well I have to hold off anyway. The black docking lights aren't in stock anywhere for 3 more weeks, so I'll have to wait until then. Luckily it is an "after bow seats installed" mod so I can revisit this. I am going to pre-run wire and stay ready to go on it.

Dog, I have two of the cigarette lighter q-beams. One for each lighter plug.

15 Million Candelight Power not 1 or 1.5 million!

This what we use at night at Lake Powell. I watch the channel markers and the scan back and forth to the canyon walls on each side. It is very bright and shows things off in the distance. Only downside is that they are very big and heavy, I rest it on my shoulder. I have tower lights now, but haven't had a chance to use them in the the dark yet, but my guess is that they will be useful for night swimming, slow cruising and docking.
