My carpet smells like A$$ when it gets wet. Sorry to say that. It smells fine as long as it is dry. If I take a huge roller over the front it takes 3 days for it to smell decent again. I think I need to take a good carpet cleaner to it, I hope that will fix it. I think it started when I let it get wet and then never opened it up to dry. It is probably some mold spores.

Now I put a little fan in the front compartment when it gets wet, and it is dry by morning without any significant odor.

Yeah we got fans blowing in our right now. Im thinking about taking it over to one of those do it yourself car washes and spray the sh*t out of it, Literally.

That would be a great idea. However, if you can get it into the washing machine, run that carpet thru the white loan cycle and then let it air dry.

I think that my odor erupts from the storage compartments rather than the floor carpet, but I honestly can't tell. I suppose it would be easy enough to just start with the snap out and go from there.

Get them steam cleaned and have them use a anti-bacterial deoderizer (similar to what they use to eliminate pet oders/stains). I've had the Stanley Steamer guys do the last two boats I've owned every once in a while. It really helps.

i just used feebrez a couple times and I never have the problem again. Like Dog said, just use something that kills bacteria. That's what smells. Wal-mart has stuff called, "Pet stain and odor" cleaner that works great. But Feebreez works too.

My bow carpet is the only stuff that stinks. I have done all of the above except steam clean and it still reeks. If it didn't smell so bad I'd use it as a door mat outside my back door.

The dealer had one that got wet on the way to the boat show and it stunk the whole time we just kept hitting it with FeBreeze

Mine stinks when it gets wet, goes away when dry

The febreeze doesnt have a long term effect.

Wasn't my boat but one bottle was enough to make it through a 3 day show

Looks like it is time to buy some Febreeze! I am getting the meadows and Rain "Picture an early summer morning: the dew on the ground, the crisp, refreshing, early morning aroma of the outdoors. Like a clean breeze for your boat, Meadows & Rain will make your whole boat feel as fresh, airy and clean as the first morning dew."

Yes, the washing machine. Use hot water and do not put in the dryer. Just air dry it.
