Would you do that? Drive 450 miles to save a few grand?

I live 2 miles from a Tige dealership but I service my boat at the Tige factory. Its about a 3 hour drive but well worth it to me since I get everything properly done in about 3-5 hours. I dont mind since I usually will hang out the factory or burn time playing golf.

My Tige dealer is top notch but I get a great discount at the factory and I dont have to wait 2 or 3 weeks.

Just curious, is this type of factory service something Tige will do for any Tige owner, or is this just some perk you get? Again, just curious.

Little of both. However Tige will service boats for owners in the area.

Our situation was a little different because we bought used, but we bought ours in Dallas and pulled it home to Arizona. At the time, I was pretty much willing to go anywhere west of the Mississippi to get the right boat. No regrets - except for passing the gravel truck in El Paso and getting the boat's windshield shattered ($600!!).

A friend of mine bought another brand of boat from a dealer that is about 3 hours away instead of buying from the closest dealer which is only an hour. He has complained about having to tow it 3 hours but the the dealer that is closer did not have any boats in stock when he was looking. He has taken the boat to the closer dealer for warrenty work also and they gave him a hard time of course because he did not buy from them.

There is a price for doing business. Why shoot yourself in the foot when you don't need to. Right now, I get the best work done at my local Tige shop. I even did a stupid thing by not connecting all the cables to the battery. The shop spent 30 minutes on it only to find out that I was stupid and didn't charge me a cent.

I drove about 400 miles. Of course, at the time there was no dealer in my state (now there 2).

I had the choice of going to AR or going to TX. The guys in TX were about 8K more for the same boat. So yes, it def. worth it to shop around.
Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

Why give someone a hard time, reinforces buying from the dealer farther away the next time. If they treat you fairly it will convince you to buy from them next time.
