    Overheating

Took the boat this weekend for first time and it ran great all morning, but later in the afternoon the engine started to overheat. Did not notice it until I was pulling a rider and the engine cut out.

Gave the motor a look over and gave the water intake a quick look, but did not find any blockage. Wondering if anyone has had this problem or any ideas what it might be. It is on a 2004 22I.

    thanks

I would check the water pump to see if the impeller is burned up. The only time my engine ever overheated was just before the impeller in the water pump went out. If you do not catch it in time it can cause serious damage.

    Good Luck!

Replace the impellar, takes about 5 minutes and costs about $20.00. Also buy and extra one also.

Was the boat ever started out of the water? I've been told this will burn up an impeller or at least shorten it's life significantly.
