We'll be in Shasta the whole July 4th week. We generally stay around the upper lake which is far less used for some reason. In fact we may not even hit the lake on the 4th itself to avoid idiots.

Yeah I've been there several times. My wife is from Mt. Shasta and we also have family in Redding. Nice lake, esp. when the water is at full pond. Last time I was there was two summers ago, about this time of the year.

We went out on mead last year for memorial day and the line for the launch ramp at sunset was a mile long. I was so happy that we had practiced it cuz when it came out turn dad backed the boat in and I loaded it all in about 1 minute in and out.
we made everyone else look like idiots

yeah that's how I am!! My old ramp and lake the line would be stupid long, and when it was my turn I would be down and back on the trailer before other people even got down the ramp! They all really sucked!
