Do you keep them in the compartment, or just in the open bow area?

I put them in the compartments. My open area seems to do ok without them, but you could add them there as well. I also keep the compartments closed if I'm storing my boat outside.

Now that we have water back at my lakehouse, it looks like this will be less of an issue since the boat stays in the garage when I'm not using it there.

I was reading on the eva dry stuff...and it says that it takes 3-8 weeks to absorb 10 ounces of water. Will this absorb enough water and quick enough, if I use 2 or 3 at any given time, to prevent the mildew smell w/in that one week time frame between outings? I love the idea of not having electrical running into the boat at the marina, but I also don't understand how these eva dry units will help to dry the inside of the boat quick enough. Any thoughts?

BTW, I put my boat away pretty wet and just threw the larger version of the Eva-Dry into the compartment. It pretty much absorbed all the moisture in a couple of days. Of course, we had pretty hot weather (90s), full sun and my boat under it's cover. Also, I hang mine from the hatch struts in each rear compartment. it seems to work better that way because hot humid air tends to gravitate to the top of the compartment. It was cool to be able to just plug it in to dry it out and drop it back into the compartment for the next time.

I use a Happy's Air Dryer. Works great. I have an outlet at my dock and leave it on 24/7.
