A Few RZ2 issues to watch for

Now that I have had the boat a while and things are broken in I have noticed some things this last weekend you other owners should watch for.

First the hinge pin that holds the large seat in the cabin can slide back some as it did with my boat. Problem it chipped the gel where the pin came into contact with the seat base. Not visible unless you open up the seat to get stuff out. I have a pic but don't have time to edit it right now.

Two watch / tighten the screws for the transom covers. The kids were opening them up this weekend and the door came off completely. All of the screws and hardware were in the compartment, but I am glad I didn't hit a bump and lose the door. The way Tige put the doors on are a headache. They used a long bolt that you end up having to use 2 washers that look like snaps to put together and hand tighten the thing then get a stubby screwdriver in there to tighten it. A better method would have been a hex head screw so you can use a socket to tighten it back up.

The vinyl is getting much easier to clean now. I spent 2.5 hours last week scrubbing it down and I have been using Meguiars vinyl and rubber cleaner #40 not #57 (probably the same stuff) and the dirt is not sticking like before. My wife was very happy with how everything was looking and that the dirt was coming off. She cleans the interior after we pull the boat and she was not a happy camper after the first few trips. It seems that you need to use a vinyl brush and work the product into the vinyl and it be protected even better.

Overall minor stuff to watch for. The boat has been running great and I am very happy with it.

Thanks for the heads up Greg. Haven’t had that happen to my RZ2 but will keep an eye for it.

As far as mine having issues I have minor things, mainly stuff coming unglued.

One is the the LCD readout came unglued from the mounts, fixed that with some Gorilla glue and held fine over the choppy water from this weekend. Second was the cooler came unglued from the seat base, factory fixed that and has held fine ever since.

The other is the portside walkway hatch pops open every once in a while, just need to get that adjusted again

Thanks for the tips on the vinyl. I couldn't believe how dirty mine was after going out this weekend! I will get a vinyl brush and start working some product into it. I will also keep an eye out for those issues and any others that may come up.

To clean it I am using the Meguair's Multi Purpose cleaner cut 4 to 1 with water (1 part cleaner 4 parts water). This lifted all of the dirt and then after I used the rubber and vinyl cleaner to protect the vinyl. I also tried on half of my boat the Boat Bling Vinyl Conditioner and it worked very well. The dirt lifted off better on the side I used it, but I am not sure if it has UV protectant or not.

My dealer said with a new boat to clean the vinyl with vinagar and water, the new vinyl already has UV protection from the factory and using some of the after market cleaners actually removes it. I would imagine olders boats could use some extra care.

What ever happened with the bow seats breaking? Any more problems?

TWS in Corona put a temporary fix on the seat so I can keep boating while we wait for the new seats.

Here is the pic of the seat base and the chip cause by the hinge pin sliding out. I have all ready put the pin back in the pic.

everyone watch out for your windshield on the port side. make sure the screw is in well, or the screw wont hold the windshield in and it will come undone......or as in the case of another RZ that came in the shop, there was no screw holding the windshield to the windshield base.

                          something minor: those with biminis-
make sure you tighten down the alans everytime, or they will rattle out. i believe were just going to use regular screw and screw it in, instead of using those dumb alan screws

my port side bow cushion base broke.

also look under your swim platform as the screw will come loose and you will lose them

all in all with 80 hours on her already, nothing major to complain about, just little annoying stuff.......I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER BOAT OTHER THAN THE RZ LINE!...or if tige comes out with somehting better

Another bow cushion base broken! Both of mine snapped. I have a feeling we will be seeing more and more of this. Tige time to re-enforce that seat base because that is a large opening people that people will be sitting in and the bow is the where the bumps are felt most.

Kind of stupid question but I assume the bow cushion bases are snapping while adults are sitting in them? Havent had it happen to mine yet since only the little ones sit up front.
