Here is the only picture I have of the trailer. I have an Extreme Trailer. I think most other trailers have the guide posts as well. It would be very difficult to load your boat without them. Especially in the conditions you described.

I have the standar Dorsey Trailer, although it looks the same except that mine is a single axle. I think building some guides on the sides just behind the wheels, might help.???? Thoughts?

I just replaced mine with a Fulton XLT14ZB 1400lb. winch. Works well and the price is right, http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...w&i=39980&aID= . They make an 1800lb one as well but the 1400 was rated for boats up to something like 2800 lbs or so.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Crosswinds are always tricky. I'm pretty good at getting my boat on the trailer in all sorts of conditions, but mother nature always seems to throw a curveball. I've not been above getting my boat halfway on the trailer and then jumping out into the water to get it lined up perfectly if the conditions are really bad.

The one thing I've learned is that you should never be in a hurry, no matter how many people are watching.

yeah last time I brought mine in I had a HUGE cross wind and the whole pond was white capping. I eased it in, and jumped out and winched it the last of the way. Guys on the boat were impressed I got it in so fast, I just said it's all about the angle

actually there was some land in Colorado that was talking about 35 acre lots for 35000 or was it 5 acre lots. Not sure. It was on a lake and what not. Just pretty sure it's in the BFE part of CO. Oh well, I can still dream since I can't fall asleep
