Anybody ever hear of Lake Tahoe? Anytime after labor day is awesome, but from July on it's plenty warm. Well, relatively if you can handle your water in the low 60's. Mid week is dead. Nobody on the water except those that know what they're doing. It's pretty awesome to be out riding and you can see giant boulders 100ft. below you. You see some increadible boats up there as well.
One lake on my list to get the Tige on is Billy Chinook up in central Oregon. Awesome scenery and good water. You'll get your chance, smart guy.

The Big River campground just south of Parker is fairly family friendly. The beach area is grass, so the kids don't burn their feet on the sand. From there, you are only a 5 minute ride into town for dinner, or to the Blue Water Resort for gambling and shows. Just beware of low water in the morning and evenings. During the summer they let out the water from the upper dams, and the water level comes up around 9:00.
Make sure you do hit up Nacimiento, and Shasta or Whiskey Town. The Delta is also a great trip in California.
I now want to visit some more of the great lakes in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Upper Shasta is awesome, hardly anyone out there. We launch out of Antlers and generally stay to the upper lake. Most of the boaters hit the lower regions for some reason.
Whiskeytown while a lot smaller lake has some awesome water in the mornings before the afternoon winds kick up! What's cool about Whiskeytown are the islands with day use areas on a first come basis. When there we head out around 5AM to park someone on an island to reserve it, just gotta make sure not to forget about them!
We don't do the delta, while there's good water in the sloughs it can be hazardous, especially for a low freeboard boat. Not to mention all the crap in the water and hyacinth floating everwhere. Too many boats swamp and sink in the delta every year so we just stay away. Besides the mosquitos eat me alive!
Not tried Oroville yet but from what i hear it's great, maybe our yearly weeklong trip will be there next year!"Call me anything you want ... Just don't call me NOBODY!

Well, there is
1) Rollin's Lake about 60 minutes east of Sacramento. There are camp sites and docks there.
2) Lake Clementine is in the same area as #1. The problem with this lake is there is
a) only 25 boats allowed on the lake at one time
b) the road to the lake has a few hair pin turns that make it hard for large cars and boats to get to the lake
3) Folsom Lake 30 minutes east of Sacramento.
4) Camp Fire West near Lincoln, CA
5) Lake Berryessa
All these are family friendly lakes if you are wishing to visit the Central Valley...

If you want to see pictures of my home lake, Oroville, there are thousands at:

Only recent ones are with the Tigé.
Even on a hot Saturday like today, you can get to Lime Saddle Marina by 10am and have plenty of parking, not in the overflow. Water is usually pretty smooth until 11am, unless there is some wind, but many wind sheltered coves. But we always hang out til 5pm, put the surfboard away, and get out the wakeboard, and ride the glass until dark. It is almost always no wind and VERY few boats from 5-6 til dark. Its amazing.

Essentially it is like boating WITHIN the grand canyon.
We got so far, we hit rapids (water was still 20ft deep or so). Big rapids. We did it a couple of times, but the next year, the blocked it all off. It was an amazing adventure, that will probably never happen again. This picture was on the first trip, and only about half as far as we made it in. Please forgive the non Tigé boat. ;-)Attached Fileshttp://wake9.com/

Powell late season
Powell anytime can be fun but if you can swing a trip after Labor Day, when the masses are gone, you've got to do it. Any one that has been there will understand the concept of skiing, or boarding, the main channel when it is glass, not seeing another boat for miles. The water is so still that in the mornings it can be hard to tell where the cliffs end and the water begins.Chris
