On our 24Ve, the best cruising taps setting seems to be about 3.5 to 4. The boat doesn't porpoise at that setting and I can maintain 33 to 34ish without pushing. Seems to be the happy midpoint where the nose is out of the water but not so dramatically that it wants to fly.
The exception being weekends like this last one at Havi where the water was so beat up that anything above 2 feels dangerous. Saturday was a busy day at havi...but there were many Tige's out enjoying the nice weather. Good representation on AZ's west coast.

What cruising speed do you think you get the best gas mileage at on your boat?
Ours is Engine Off.
So for example, you run out of gas 10 miles from the Marina, someone with a half empty gas can gives you 1 gallon of gas, your best odds of reaching the marina without running out will be if you idle back. It will take much longer, but your miles per gallon expenditure is much less.Be excellent to one another.

Ok I will give this one, but I think he meant optimal gas mileage.
This would be a mixture of speed and consumption.
Tige, it's a way of life!
