There is no way to tell. You may run it like its used from the get-go and never have trouble with it, or you might break it in real easy and have lots of trouble. No way to tell how your engine is going to behave over time.

Personnally, I never run mine hard until its good and warmed up, after that, all bets are off.

I really don't think he had it long enough to break it in. I think the motor crapped out before he really got the chance. I really wouldn't call it his fault. Bad motor, simple as that. Rare sure, but it happens

And contrary to what else was said, this is totally a Tige problem...I'm sure they'll make it right.

Tige will make it right, just not for him. Sounds like his mind is made up.

Right but the whole ordeal ended up making him look like a prick. It's hard to know what I would do in the same situation as those instances cause "feelings" to come up from the deep, and we get a little rash with the issues. Some of that is helped by communication, unfortunately there was no communication until after he had already made up his mind. I still would have stopped payment though.

Here is how it should have gone down IMO.

Cust: My motor blew up, I stopped payment on the check.
Tige: Oh yeah....we see that, well it pisses us off you stopped payment...tell you what, we are gonna look at it to make sure it was a defect.
Cust: OK, well what am I supposed to do about boating.
Tige: Nothing until we diagnose the issue, unless you want to give us another check, and some form of down payment, we don't need more cancelled checks. We have bills to pay too ya' know.

Cust: I'll give you another check, if you can give me a boat.
Tige: OK, we'll let you use this demo untill we can diagnose the problem.
Cust: cool...here's a check and some cash.

Tige: <calls> Hey, we found that the motor was faulty, so this is what we will do. We cannot give you a new boat, however, we will put a brand new powerplant in it, with (some additional option) to the boat for the inconvenience. We cannot have it ready immediately, but we can have it ready within 4 weeks. Whenever yor boat is ready, we will head out on the lake with you in it so you can test it out in front of us. How's that sound?
Cust: Sounds good if you can keep the factory warranty in place on all parts and date it the day the boat is redelivered.
              Tige: We can do that.

You could be a director. I would like to see your video of this.
Thats the way it should or could have happened.

                  Sp,

when is the movie coming out? Which actors did you hire for which parts? I have the soda, candy, and popcorn ready at hand.

All kidding aside, that would have been the ideal conversation but it wasn't. From all of this, we really don't know anything about the dealer. Is the dealer a small store that can't afford a demo boat? Sending the demo boat out for weeks with someone else also reduces the amount the store would gain from profit unless Tige was going to help out the dealership with additional cost incurred because of this engine. We really still do not know the entire story and will probably never find out either.

Maybe there was never a blown engine??????
Has anybody seen any pictures of the boat?
                    Who was the dealer?
                    To many questions....

Maybe the guy screwed up?? Maybe it was a bad engine. We'll never know.
Either way, sounds like there is will be a (slightly) used 2007 20i with a brand new engine available soon!!

If you look back at his first post, it was on a Sunday. He had already stopped payment. His mind was made up on Saturday when the boat broke. He wanted it resolved by Wednesday but due to Tige's hours and the Dealers hours, they did not get to talk about it till Tuesday.

His complaint was about the lack of response from the Dealer and Tige, but they had not even had a chance to get together on the phone and talk about this, more-less resolve it.

We don't know what was in his letter to Tige, but I feel (IMHO) that by stopping payment, he was telling the Dealer and Tige, LOAD AND CLEAR, "I don't want this boat, there is no way you are going to fix ME"

TimM should have worked through the problem. Tige stands behind there boats! I have had a lot of problems with my 2007 20i. My dealer jumped through hoops and kicked as* over the last 3 week to try to fix the problems. It came down to the hull and other problems were just not right for a new boat. I will be getting a new 20i in about 4 week. My dealer is Waterski and Wakeboard Specialty in Denver. I have to say that WWS has been the best dealer to work with. They have set the standard!

I think that would depend upon the bank. I am sure with technology today that he might have been able to log into his account via the banks website and processed a stop payment on Sunday.

I've been following this little thread but have reserved my comments untill now. TimM should not be a Tige owner. His attitude toward this whole deal sucks. Chit happens. You can't expect the world to stop in order to serve your problem. I've seen this type of person in action before. Odly enough, another lawyer. He had an older Tige and after 8 years of trouble free service, the windshield fell off. I asked him if he had ever tightened it as it is a boat and every once in a while you need to tighten some screws. was the look I got. He then proceded to bash Tige for building a mediocre boat and went out and bought a new Malibu. Good, go away.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.
