I am sure that you will be taken care of. I agree that you may have jumped to a conclusion on stopping payment. I would have given them and TIGE' a chance to get it fixed with in a reasonable amount of time. A boat is a mechanical devise built by Imperfect Human beings. Things can happen. Now if they did not step up and take care of that kind of issue with in a reasonable amount of time I would just tell them to unwind the deal. Your state should have a 90 policy protecting you or Lemon Law. It is an engine. They are so easy to replace and change in boats that when you get a new one your boat should still be brand new. I have seen how they put them in at the factory. They use the same procedures that your dealer will use. TIGE' and your dealer will take care of you. I feel your pain and I mean that some of these guys know what I have been through and in a way it was much worse than just one simple item. TIGE' stepped up and took care of it along with the dealer once the dealer principal (owner) found out what was taking place with his service manager and I. Two weeks max to get that engine replaced is what I would give them. Keep us informed as to what is going on.

Asking for a loaner while yours is in the shop is a must. A new engine is a new engine whether it came in the boat or is put in the boat. I would not accept a rebuild on the blown engine for any reason. I also suggest you read MP's three year warranty and understand it. Good luck and I hope you follow thru with your purchase. You will enjoy the ride.

WWS is taking care of me, but it is frustrating when you pay this much for a new boat and you have one problem after another. WWS should not have to be working on my new boat. The Tige factory should have caught all the problems.

I could'nt agree more. I visited the TIGE' factory and saw how they test these boats before they come to you. They put them through a very harsh lake test and then a final Gel-Coat check and repair and a very tough quality assuance inspections. But this is all done by a human being who is subject to error after all that is why we are all hear. But I can feel your pain and frustrations. I can assure you it will be worth the wait and you will be glad you stuck it out. That is a very nice boat. You, your family, and friends are going to love it.

I would get a detailed report of what failed in the engine to make sure that there wasnt anything done incorrectly on the break in procedures , it is very unusual for an engine failure . As far as a replacement engine it would still be like a new boat , full warrantee.

UPDATE - AND THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S COMMENTS

What concerns me is the multiple quick issues with boat. Gas Gauge, pick up pipe/hose, starter, engine in less than 2 days and 3 hours. I have no faith in this boat. I requested advise by Wednesday, got letter today saying could not meet deadline, but offered no time line. So I responded what's your proposal for resolution, no response yet. I sent letter to Tige' and dealer as same time. Sure they are looking at engine and trying to decide if they can blame me but both mechanics for dealer sat right there and said there was nothing we did wrong. Engine did not overheat no evidence of such, had to be defective head on right side. I didn't mention this but I am an attorney and I'm on sound ground in stopping payment demanding new boat. The probl with replacement engine is they replace on the block basically everthing else gets switched over. I have to rely on dealers mechanic to get it right and now have bunch of problems, so in my book I haven't got time to go back and forth to dealership solving a problem that's not mine to begin with. New boat or go elsewhere. Sad bec really like Tige'. Maybe I can find another dealer.

Why not demand a crate engine rather than a new long block. A crate engine is usually complete from intake to pan with very few "old" parts.

No one from Dealer to Tige' has offered

any solutions at this point or alternatives although I did tell "new boat". But law says at very least they must "cure" and they have offered nothing to say the least. Today I was advised they could not meet my deadline of Wednesday, but offered no alternative not even give us a few days to work on it. If this were my business I would be trying to solve the problem not put it off.

Have you talked with anybody from Tige Corporate regarding your problem. The senior sales manager attended our reunion last year and I have his name and number if you need it. He was a great guy to talk with and offered to help us sell our first Tige.

Sorry, but what do you care when it is fixed. The boat is not yours, you did not pay for it, it belongs to the dealer or floor plan co. I don't understand what makes you think you can demand anything of the dealer or Tige since you stopped payment. You are the lawyer right, don't they call that "breach of Contract"? By this action, all you have done is penalize the dealer for failure of a Marine Power engine in a boat built by Tige.

The dealer is an independent contractor contracted by Tige to fix the warranty issues on thier boats, so why didn't you give this dealer the opportunity to fix it.

Sorry for the harsh response, but after 18 yrs in the service business, you are the worst kind of customer to deal with. The dealer and Tige will be better off if you do take your business else where

Yes you should be contacting TIGE' I am sure if they were aware of this thread and they new about this issue they would be comunicationg with you in private about it. They are really good at the factory and they truly care about their customers. I have sent the link to this thread to Andrew Reyes and I am sure you will hear from him. He is a great guy and so is Harvy they need to be in this loop.

1st off I feel your pain. My Tige had v-drive issues and tranny failure very early on. My dealer and Tige took care of me.

For the rest I am kind of with chpthrl here. You did not pay for the boat. Also the dealer needs to determine the cause and submit to TIGE for warranty work. Sounds to me you want new boat only. All of sudden little issues are big issues.

I do not understand your comment about finding a new dealer. Sounds to me they have done nothing wrong except cannot give you a time frame at this moment in time. What would a different dealer be doing?

Most dealers are closed Sunday and Monday(not sure in your case. You did not say when you took the boat back to the dealer, Without all the facts its hard to say if your time frame for a response was even reasonable.

I wish you the best. I am sure Tige will make it right but it might not be the right you are looking for.

Sorry if I am harsh but my Ducks took a brutal beating tonite by Detroit.
                            Let it be!!!

                              Tim

Received your fax on Monday when we opened for business and I have discussed the issues with the dealership and I can hosestly say we care and have always done the right thing for all of our customers. The dealership was not given the efficent oppunity to dianose and correct the problem. I can say for a fact that the Dealership, Marine Power and Tige Boats will correct the problem and stand behind our product. However the 2 day timeline is an unreasonable demand for the dealership and Tige to correct the problem. If you would like to purchase a another Tige in the future, please contact the dealer.

well said everyone. 2 days is way to little time. Hope it gets worked out to your happyness. I know I had a few problems with my boat, ie, battery dead, speaker dead, tear in the vinyl when I opened the rear hatch, and a blown exhaust gasket all on the first outing. They fixed all in 4 days, couldn't get to the gasket for another week, due to one mech. on leave. I just said thanks and bought the 10 dollar gasket. and did it myself I was happy with the results. OH yeah, first year a stearing cable went out. But all was fixed very quickly. This time of year is busy for the dealerships. They have huge delays.
