Prop help, what do I do...

Ok I just purchased a 1999 tige 2100v ltd with a 315hp 350 v8. The prop that is on the boat is a 4 blade 13" 13 pitch prop, seems like not enough pitch to me, and it is nicked on a cople blades causing a nice vibratiaon. I am gonna send it out and have it reworked and make it my spare.

What should I buy in its place, pitch, material, and brand??? I was told ACME are really nice props but I have no experience with any company out their. Any help would be appreciated!

Also who should I send my prop off to?

The boat by the way will be used mostly for wakeboarding, skateing and surfing.

    Thanks

I would call Acme and ask them as they are the experts at it, btw, 13x13 is what my '95 has in three blade as well and i belive it was standard in the 90's boats.

Acme is awesome. Call or send an email.

I contacted jthelen@acmemarine.com and he sent me a recommendation which I ordered. I gained a helluva hole shot, and 5mph on the top end. He knows a ton. Here is a quote.
I’m not absolutely certain which prop they were running on your model boat in ’97, but I have talked to a lot of Tige owners through the years and a 13 x 12, 3-blade, in 1997, is a size I rarely encounter on any model inboard ski boat from 1997. (13 x 13 is a much more common size for a boat like yours; that has a 1:1 gear reduction). The fact that you indicate you are running a 13 x 12, 3-blade at this time, makes me think that it is not a stock prop… But again, it is nothing to be concerned about. Just get a 525 on there and then you’ll have a much better propeller, and we’ll have a true, trustworthy, accurate WOT RPM reading… if we need one. Finally, because you indicate that you are currently running that 13 x 12, 3-blade, which is NOT an Acme Prop, I need to confirm that you are running the boat most of the time at or near sea level (e.g. Are you, by any chance, running at 3500 feet elevation, or above?). If you are running at a higher elevation, please let me know, and I will likely change my recommendation. However, if you are running below 3500 feet, my recommendation would still be the 525.
Here is a pic. The acme is the pretty one on the left. You can order these through lee, who is a member.

On a v-drive he is probably going to want a 4 blade.

What are the differences in the 3 vs. 4 blade props, besides the number of blades??? Benifits, drawbacks and what not?

I think it is going to depend on you tranmission (1:1, 1:1.5 shaft reduction, etc) and deals more with the RPM; 1:1 is likely a 3, where a 1:1.5 or similar would use a 4. You should get in touch with Acme and let them give you a recommendation. 4 blades vs. 3 blade is a hard comparison. You need to account pitch, size, and surface area into the mix to. Some v-drives run 3 blades and love it.

On your tranny there is a plate with the make, model, and gearing. You should also pull your current prop numbers from the prop to give acme, and you will want to know your rpm at WOT.

Here, its hard to see but it is the red/gold tag under the throttle cable foward of the tranny distick and straight down from the blower. I circled it.

It really vibrates once you get up to about 28mph so I am a little timmid about opening her up till I fix the vibration, kinda chicken or the egg situation i guess.
I will call ACME tomorrow. Where is the least expensive place to purchase one????

There is a place online, but check pricing with lee first.

And BTW....I was a noob a mere 8 months ago as well.....but I have seen every square inch of my boat up close and personal, and I could write an essay on the reading I have done and create a novel. You'll learn more than enough if you need to.

go to private messaging, and send him a message, or wait for him to chime in on this thread. He is a member on this board, and is a strong supporter of the site and the members. I think he works for a dealer in TN.

                            Prop help

I called Acme and they gave me two names close to me for repair. I shipped mine to James Propellers in Dallas. Their link is jamespropellers.com and they repaired nicely and back to me in less than 10 days. I think the repair was about $120 including shipping.

Well I just got off the phone with Bill @ ACME and he suppested a 525 would be my best choice, kinda suprised me since it is only a 3 blade??? but I guess if that is what they suggest I will run with it.
