His website says they are all made from stainless steel. Painted or polished stainless finish. The polished stainless was new with our last group buy. The FAQ on his website where it says stainless was done before they even added the polished stainless finish.
The warranty covers the materials and workmanship from defects. The warranty excludes any rubber grommets or sleeves and the finish (paint). Impact damage would also void the warranty. FAE are constructed from 16-gauge type 304 stainless steel; they are tough. If you were to strike a log floating on the water, there will probably be no damage to the FAE. A rock strike may damage the FAE.
Here are some pics of my FAE install on our 24V. Makes a big difference on the noise level as well as the amount of exhaust behind the back mof the boat at idle and while surfing.
I added a rubber gasket with a piece of stainless over the top of the gasket to keep the water from splashing up through the space between the teak and the hull.
The install took about an hour and was very easy.
The way the response was posted makes it sound like he isn't getting stainless currently. That would mean the FAEs are not stainless, and if that is the case, I can have one made out of something else way cheaper. Since they are stainless thorugh and through, then np....that's the reason for the cost.
Not only that but if it were not stainless, look for it to be full of holes after a few years.
Moot point, doesn't matter, but hopefully that answers the questions and the sarcasm
