I just got a reply back from Fresh Air Exhaust. If we have minimum of 3 orders we can get a 20% discount. For mine that would be going from 381 down to 304 (plus shipping)

Sounds like we have three at this point. Me, ctcranor and wfsims. Anyone else? CP??

How many until the next price break, 6?

IMO they should be 50% of what they are to begin with. I still want one, I just can't take their marketing, or their pricing structure. I wish I had access to a machine shop, I would startup some competition.

There is also some balogna on the FAQs like
In addition, exhaust gasses flow more efficiently if they are swirling as opposed to going straight. We surmise that FAE causes the exhaust gasses to swirl when they go through the first 90-degree bend and again when the gasses meet at the tee.
That must be why straight pipes reduce power so much.....LOL.....

        and
The Ultra Low Emissions standards do NOT cover Carbon Monoxide. So far, we have only conducted a brief test of CO concentrations behind an Ultra Low Emissions rated boat and the CO concentrations appeared to be as high as any other inboard boat that we've tested. If you have an Ultra Low Emissions boat, do not be lulled into a false sense of security; your engine still produces lethal levels of CO.
ULE are the boats with CC installed. The reason they are close to the same is because there is still minimal amounts of CO.

They should market these for what they are, silent exhaust, or an underwater exhaust, and not so much for fresh air.

Dunno what the next price break is.

I really don't care about how they market them. If they infact don't take away from my power, and make the boat quieter, and cut down on the CO2 when we're riding/surfing, thats worth $300 to me.

Right, that's what I am saying. I would try to sell them at half that. So if you can find out where the next price break is, I would look at maybe getting one. I am not going to pay $300 for $50 of parts though.

I am sure they do, but it would be really easy to design something similar and not infringe. Underwater exhaust are not new by far. They have been used since through hull exhaust have been around. I would make mine so it floated

Find the next price break out man!

I sent the question to them. We'll see what they're response is.

I wish I had the time to do stuff like this. it would be fun.

                    spharris,

why don't you take your plans to a machine shope and market them? If you have CAD drawings my friend has a machine shop and would make them, not sure on the $ though.

My neighbor across the street runs a metal fabrication shop as well. I know he likes making some $$ on the side.

I believe that Chpthrl or XP actually ran the numbers on the cost, and it was quite suprising! If you can build for $50 then go for it, but if I recall that will be tough.

That is close to the price that we got.

A one offer at a mchine shop is $$$$. Have to DIY it to get it cheap. One of you guys is bound to have the time to mock something up. I am thinking bent tubing and fixed mounting flange....kind of like a header gasket. I am about to ask another community I hang out in to see if i can get someone to throw a $$$ to me on something custom.

I may be interested if I can get one that will fit my 06 24V with fiberglass platform. Let me know.

They have one listed for an 06 24ve with a fiberglass platform. What is the difference between the 24v and the 24ve??
