4th of July weekend?... WHICH WEEKEND?

Quite a ways off, but it's never to early to start planning. What weekend is everyone "partying" for fourth of July? June 30th -July 4th or July 4th - July 8th?

Heck, I'll probably just go all week long...lol. But just checking what everyone else has heard. I'm not sure what most business's are doing, as I'm self employed. I'm sure they'll prob. only give people the 4th off .

Next year will be good for sure! 4 day weekend for everyone... probably! Woohoo!

We're still trying to figure out our plans I went from having 25 days of vacation to 12 days (got laid off) so the time is tight this year!

Man things only 3 weeks away and everyone I know is half and half. Some are doing the week before and the others are doing the week after.

I have a feeling the lakes won't be as crowded as usual on the 4th. Except for on the 4th itself.

Bummer. We have a tradition. I take a couple of die hard kids, and we go on the lake the eve of the 3rd, and take up some late butter. Then we find a cove to anchor in, and sleep there. In the morning, my wife calls when she wants to come on, usually around 10ish. We pick up the rest of the family, and just kick it on the lake. We will tube, surf and swim all day, and usually have another family with us. It is usually the only day I have to fuel on the dock.

On oroville, there is one kinda party cove, so we stay out of there. Last year, some drunk in a bu with a boat full of people, screwed around and threw 2 girls off the front of the boat with some maneuver and ran them both over. They lived, one literally lost her face. Crazy stuff.

But in our cove in the north fork, I don't see that stuff. Then around dusk we head over to the dam, and just find a spot anywhere to float. Can't really anchor, its too deep. Sometimes we have a friend out to tie to. We have dinner on the lake and around 9pm-930pm they shoot fireworks from the dam. They shoot the fireworks from like a barge, so its RIGHT on the lake, and it reflects off the lake. Its not a cheesy show either, its a pretty descent display, compares to the ones I have seen at theme parks or dodger stadium.

After the fireworks, I will flick on my new DBot5 lights and head home to lime saddle marina with a procession of like 150 boats or so. You would think this would take forever, and it would be a HUGE line and mess on the ramp, but for some reason, it never has been. Most of the people on the boats from Lime Saddle are locals and fisherman from the area and the ramp goes smooth and quick.

I have done this for the last 3 years, and its one of those things I have told my wife, I hope I am 90 and still doing this. Its a great tradition, and one of my favorite days.

On the 4th I'll be in canada tearing up the Boundary Waters of Ely Minn. on throught to Canada by Canoe.
