chpthril: That is exactly what I don't have. On a side note, I do notice you have just as much junk in there as I do. At times I wish they would make the glovebox bigger because the GF has to put everything and anything in there.

I'm thinking about putting one of these on my glove box lid. I use them all the time on cabinetry and love 'em. Fantastic quality and awesome action. http://www.rufkahrs.com/shelbe/Delta.html

That would work to. Put them on both sides so the box doesn't warp and you should be good to go.... I really like this idea better now...
a simple spring is simple and effective. How long do you guys leave your box open?
It's not how long you leave it open it is when you drive the boat and someone is changing the radio station while the boat is in motion. The door closes and hits the back of the hand or fingers..... Don't hurt much but it's a PITA....

The thing I really like about them is that you can adjust the tension down to zero. These lids don't weigh anything and it doesn't take much tension at all to keep them up. Having adjustability in the unit itself takes all the guess work out of it. I just got my hands on one for myself so I'll see how it will mount up some time this week.

I would opt for two with very, very little tension. I think that would be the most professional look there is.....
