up to this point we had been looking at new matercrafts, so service records and such have not been an issue.

we are both mainly ski kinda people, but that is just because we have not tried wakboarding to this point. however, that is something we want to play with. the Tige seems like a good boat to accommodate both sports.
It is. Our daily routine is to hit the slalom coarse in the morning and then surf the rest of the day away out in the open water. The MC's will have a better ski wake, but that's it. The Tige will shine everywhere else for you as it does for the rest of us. I started looking at MC's and what ready to sign up for a new 209. Thank god I found my Tige. It has been stellar. Well, except for the Metcrap, but that was the tower and not the boat. The boat has never let me down.

If you're just getting into wakeboarding, you are not going to need pro size wakes. The 21i will give more than enough to get going. It will have a pretty wide table but you can always shorten up the rope untill you are comfortable going wake to wake. Plus the fact that you'll have Taps which will let you tune the wake and the ride.

Watch the nose. It is low. The old Droop Snoot. With some a little careful driving it's no big deal, but it will catch you of gaurd now and then.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

thanks! that's exactly what i was lookin to hear (as well as what everyone else has said)
next question: i'm 6'5", 280lbs.......just about anything i've ever skied behind has been a workout getting up (not tryin to be dirty...couldn't think of how to reword that). do you think the 315 hp merc. engine going to get the job done? we figure if the boat can get me out of the water, it will be fine for anyone else.

If not, you can re-prop (change propeller) and go down in prop pitch to improve the hole shot.

Also depends upon what type of wakeboard you get also.....

We just sold our 1995 2002fslm tournament ski boat that had the ol' 350 magnum carburated engine. I think it was rated at something like 275hp (not 100% sure) and we never had trouble popping people right out of the water. The only time we needed to "floor it" out of the hole was to get a bigger person up on a single ski because there is much more drag and less buoyancy than with a wakeboard. Long story short you shouldn't have any problems getting up on a wakeboard or a single ski behind that 315hp merc motor.. unless of course the problem is you! haha
If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..

I bought a bigger ski. Me on my old HO Extreme TRX looked like a pumkin on a tooth pick.

Actually I put a new Acme on it and it yanks out of the hole just fine. Dollars to donuts that boat has an old OJ on it. The new Acme is awesome. Much better low end, more top end, better speed holding and lower rpm at cruise. One of the best upgrades around.

Dude I was done by the time I got up. In my defence, all I had done for a few years prior was surf and occasionally wakeboard. I now slalom regularly just to keep myself in the game. do you have any idea how embaressing it is to show up at the coarse and take four tries to get up only to be so tired by then to crash rounding #1? I had a new stick within a couple of weeks.

sounds good. i guess we can go through all that once we get in the water and get goin.

i'll move my wakeboard equipment questions over to the WB section....

Just a quick question. seeing as how you have 5 whole posts now, do we get to call you T8er? 'Cause that would be a kickass handle.

Do that many people REALLY have trouble with the Metcraft tower's??? I would say your probably safe for a while with that tower as long as you dont mind the flex... I have a 2000 21V and I have lights, speakers, boards and we hang from it like monkeys and no problems over here... There are better towers out there but there's no need replacing something thats not broke. yet.....
Get out of the way and let me drive this thing!!!!
