Spharis,
I never thought I would see Toledo Bend mentioned on here! I grew up fishing in Housen Bay and near the 21 bridge. My parents have a place near Hemphill off 83 in Rebel Ridge/Sabinetown. Caught a ton of big stripers on Toldeo Bend over the years. My Dad just caught a 17lb a few weeks ago actually.
Does anyone wakeboard on Toldeo Bend? It is such a long haul from Austin and the ramp in their subdivision is too shallow to launch my Tige', so we never considered it. And all those stumps make me nervous, but I guess it is just about knowing lake like anywhere else. I know I have seen some serious butter out there with no boats in sight! Hmmm, you got me thinking...

Some of those coves are great to go, but like you said, middle of nowhere and no stores open past 6. Boat launches are good right now as the levels are great, but as they start making power and August gets closer, they will surely drop and the launches will be a no go. I am supposed to be heading up there to scout around soon. I know a few people that ski with I/Os up there every weekend this time of year. I have places to stop closer on the way, so trips up there for me are extended type only.
Wakeboarders are few but at the same time that is one HUGE resevoir! I am sure there are handfuls up there. Lots of fishermen. Stumps aren't an issue this time of year, but winds and swells with t-storms are. It can get 3-6 ft up there in the middle of the lake......look at the pictures of Henderson I just posted if you want to see stumps. Lake Pelba in that basin is pure butter all year long, but you have to know where to go and not to go. Part of living in cypress country I suppose.Last edited by spharis; 05-01-2007, 08:47 PM.http://www.wakeboatworld.com
