I use an anchor and a sand spike...Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

I use 3/8" rope for the anchor and docking lines, but I also carry a 100' of 1/2" rope for towing. It is used for towing the Tige behind the houseboat at Powell and has been pulled out a couple of times to help out someone else. The 3/8" has the strength for the towing, but it is much harder to get the knots untied. Even with a bowline, I wouldn't want to have smaller than 1/2" line when it gets stretched and pulled hard. Just so you don't have to carry around a lot of extra ropes, it may be easier to go larger.

I use my Box Anchor and Slide Spike by Slide Anchor and I am going to pick up an Adjust a Anchor that uses just one line with sliding anchor points. A student's parents here at my school is the maker of it, and also a Tige owner.

So far the cheapest one that you can remove and place on the rope at any point is $59 and after you buy 2 of them and the balls and clips your costs are more than the $129 they are selling the adjust a anchor for.
