Ok I am going to go buy a new anchor line today and I need to figure out how thick of a line I will need to buy. The West Marine site has 3/8" with a breaking strnght of 4400 lbs. My guess is that will be fine my boat weight is normaly 4200 lbs. The 1/2 line has a breaking strength of 7500 lbs but is double the price. What do you guys suggest?

Hmm, I never think about the breaking strength of any anchor lines I buy. I consider the length. My anchor lines may have the correct strength but the way I see it is if it is that weather is severe enough to snap anchor lines then I shouldn’t be out on the water anyway.
All that rambling probably didn’t help you one bit huh?

3/8 line is what I us. Unless your drive your boat over a dam and toss the anchor like a grappling hook, I don't think you would ever break a line.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

What Chpthril said...... You will never see that kind of weight on your anchor line.Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

I am with chpthrl, unless you are suspending the boat from the dam, your anchor will never have more than 100 pounds of pressure on it, unless you plan on taking off while the anchor is still down, in that situation, I probably prefer to break the anchor line.Be excellent to one another.
