    Questions regarding Bow Plowing

Well our 2007 24VE was delivered to the dealership yesterday and I didn't sleep at all last night. It's very frustrating because we won't take delivery until the third of week of May as we still have some ice on the lake.

I had a question regarding Bow Plowing. I have seen on various threads that people have said "with the exception of the RZ2 you will pretty much experience "Bow Plowing" from time to time". When shopping for a wakeboard boat this was a huge concern for my wife and I being that we are on a large lake that can get rough at times (mostly from other boat chop on busy weekends) and knowing that wakeboard boats typically ride lower in the front than a traditional boat. We also keep our boat in the water for the whole season and we were worried about water coming over the bow during extrmely rough conditions such as a storm etc. When buying our 24VE we were assured this really wouldn't be an issue. Is this true? And when you are experiencing the "plowing" what are the typical circumstance ie: rough conditions, turning into your own wake to pick up a face plant etc. etc. Just curious what to expect when we finally get out on the water. It's going to be a long month ahead if I can't get any sleep at night.

Every time I have had this done was because I turned into my own wake (Yes, I'm a total idiot at times). And then every time I did this and got home, the children would need to pull out the shopvac and vaccuum the water out. Yes, as you can see, I support child labor.

Good luck with your new boat. You'll love it. I have a 2006 24Ve.

Ya this would good to know.
I am wondering if the square front of the RZ2 help to keep the water from coming over the bow.
Ok its not square, it looks more like the Mark 5.

Most people experience it just like da.bell says, turning into your own wake when picking up a downed rider.

We boat on a pretty busy lake, and I haven't had issues with plowing unless 1) they were intentional on my part 2.) I wasn't paying very good attention or 3) very newbie driver at the helm.

It's all a matter of paying attention, and throttle control. A little touch of the throttle to get the nose picked up a bit as the big rollers are coming at you will solve 99% of all issues. You want to try to "drive up" the roller, and not "drive down" the roller. If that makes any sense.

Exactly what Tequila said. And for the record I have taken water over my bow. A huge yacht roller came my way and I did not have to to plow through it (daughter was not sitting down at the time) and took some water over the bow. This could have been avoidable by driving through it.

I agree with Tequila also. I've taken a couple over the bow. One I was not watching and drove through my own wake. The other was intentional, the riders in the bow looked like they needed cooling off

This may happen every once and a while, but with carefull driving, it will not be a problem.

just be careful when driving, and like everyone else said. You will be fine.

Yes It was a huge yacht roller and I was at idle. I coudlnt plow through it in time since my daughter was running around in the boat (wife had her hands full). Last thing I want to do is speed up and have my daughter tumble in the boat. Also had about 600 pounds of ballast up front as well.

In all actualitly it wasnt much and didnt even flood the floor. The bow in this model seems to flatten the wakes more so than a normal bow.

Ops, I just remembered also. I am not sure how everyone else does it but my Tige dealership here also showed us when we have a down boarder, we come to an almost complete stop before we turn around to get our boarder. This has reduced the amount of water that comes over the bow alot also.

                      da. bell,

i do that as well and it makes a HUGE difference, plus it keeps the water smoother longer (if your in a cove)

chpthril, it would be great to see the video if you can find it. I'm always encouraged to watch a video. Now I just have to get some popcorn and a soda.

A little power and you'll roll right over 'em I read somewhere that if you turn slightly left while coming to a stop for a downed rider then turn right and double back, eliminates rolling across your own wake. Haven't a clue if it works or not, never had an issue. I just keep the nose up
