    WetBox or JL Audio anyone?

I know a lot of you on here have JL Audio subwoofers in your Tige's. I was just wondering what size/model/location subs you guys have and what type of amp (brand/size) you have powering them. I am trying to figure out the details of my sound system and just wanted to get some feedback from some more experienced and knowledgeable people.

In my old Tige I had a WetBox w/ 4 6x9's (not great speakers.. just okay) and was very happy w/ the fit and finish of the tower box. I am leaning towards going with a black WetBox w/ 4 Eclipse Integrated 6x9's on the tower and either a 10" or 12" JL W3v3 under the dash. I have read a lot about the Wetsounds and NVS and they are a little pricey and I am not looking for INSANELY loud tower speakers.. but plenty loud enough to keep the rider happy.

Also does anyone know the difference between the regular JL subs and the *marine JL subs?

In case you've never heard of WetBox, here is the link: WetBox Marine
I would be going with the Black Logo X Enclosure w/out the lights.

I have my sub mounted under the dash like every one else. I actually ordered it from the factory with a 12" Kicker L7. I like kicker because you get a lot of bang for your buck and they are indestructable. The JL subs are definately some of the best on the market. If you mount it/them under the dash, there is no need for the marine ones. The difference is that they are sealed so they can get wet and not short out and I think they are reenforced a little more so they can take a beating, although I have no problen with my non marine sub. In fact, my speakers aren't even marine spec and I have buried the nose before and they never missed a beat. You will also want to build a box behind the sub because the compartment is too big. If I were you, I would have my dealer add the option to your boat. It shouldn't be too late considering you just ordered your boat. Mine rocks. It's the tower of power option, but I see that they have a Comp VR instead of an L7 which is bogus.

just make sure the cone is plastic, with a rubber surround and you'll be ok. I've got two alpine 10" subs mounted in a sealed bandpass box, which is then coated in resin and carpet.

Next boat will have at least one 13w7 in a ported box. I'm also looking at the feasability of running JL marine components all around. That is, unless they only come with white grills.

Marine subs are also "infinite baffle" in most cases. Means you don't have to have them in a box. They are built specifically for free air.

In my old boat I had two Kicker Solo baric L7-12's with one SX 1250.1 pushing both subs. It sounds really clean. One Solo is in a sealed box and the other is under my dash. I usually had my bass knob at half power, and that was plenty of bass. I'm going to run the exact same setup in my new boat. I promise this combo sounds sick!!!

Thank you spharis for the info on the "infinite baffle" subs.

Nuck'n Futs I bet your boat has plenty of bass w/ 2 12" L7's! Those solo-baric's are LOUD!

Anyone have any experience with the new JL Audio 10" or 12" W3v3's? I had two JL 10" W3v2's in a High Output box in my old Tahoe and they were very loud and EXTREMELY clean! I heard that you can hear a big difference between the W3v2's and the W3v3's. Anyone have any experience?

                WB247,
I think know you can get a ton of sound out of those JL W3's. I have a sub box sitting in my basement with two 12 inch W3v2's. I ran this setup in my Hummer and it hit extremely hard. I used a JL 500/1 amp and it sounded great. I think the max load on a W3 is 300 watts, so a 500/1 is great. I never ran the bass dial past 3/4's and I still messed up my back window seal. You'll be psyched with either version!

So after talking w/ my stereo guy for about an hour on the phone today I came to the conclusion that I am going to let him install the WHOLE system. I contacted my dealer today and told him to cancel the "Premium Sound" order that was supposed to come on our boat. I told him to have Tige cut the holes for the speakers but not for the head unit. So my question is this..

What speakers does everyone like for the boat speakers? I have heard that the Kicker speakers that come in the boat are actually pretty good but I was just wondering what other's opinions are. Any advice on what boat speakers I should go after?

Juniors, a couple of questions: Did you build a box for the sony sub, or keep in "infinite baffle" mount? What amp setup do you have to drive the Wake Audio tower speakers? Thanks

I have a the new JL 500/1 mono amp in the storage compartment powering a Alpine Type X 10" ( this damn sub weighs like 60lbs) in a small sealed box I made and slipped in the compartment under the drivers console. It blows away and infinite baffle sub I have heard and I have heard alot of these in friends boats and out on the lake at tie-ups. The thing I like about this is that I can still slip some storage stuff in that compartment where as if you mount a baffled sub, kiss that space goodbuy. I also like either the Alpine or Polk Momo components. I am switching to one of those component systems soon. I also have the Infinity wakeboard 6100m tower set-up which is super loud and sounds clean. It gives you a sweet microphone to talk to the rider or talk **** when your drunk also. I just put in a new Pioneer Premier head unit and the CD-MR80D wired remote by the drivers seat. Best Radio I have ever had! Have fun spending the money.
