    Pylon Replacment

I don’t ski behind my Tige and since I can’t (at least according to Tige) use my Pylon to pull tubes am looking at removing the pylon all together. (problem would be solved if it were adjustable)

I am looking for something to cover the hole that will be visible after removing the pylon.

One thing came to mind when looking at a replacement was the Tige Plate on the back bench seat (attached below). Not sure what this is even called to begin to ask how it is attached.

I have to think it would be attached to a bolt with a nun to tighten it from the back. If so I should be able to put it the over the hole from the ski pylon and use a washer and nut to hold it in place. I have attached a pic of what I am thinking about doing.

Has anyone had to order this Tige Plate or noticed how it is connected?

Neat idea, but I see a lot of meat being left behind on that plate. Had one do his knee in our boat as it is in the seat back.

The pylon bolt is 3/4" and the hole is 7/8" to 1" dia x 1 1/8" deep, if this helps.

Why can we just get a Pylon that is useful????? I pay the money to upgrade!!!

I hear you on the meat left behind. I have had a lot of close calls with people slipping on the back and almost catching that pylon to the head. This is my main reason for wanting to remove it. Especially since it is of very little use with no one skiing.

Any other ideas of something that is ready for a bolt that I could use I am open. JeffT was thinking of getting something fabricated but I think it would be expensive. Just thinking about other "plates" to replace it with.

Speaking of leaving a lot of meat behind on the Ve's the blower vent is like multi razor blade.

          G-Money,
I have to think to upgrade the current setup would take major modifications. The other boats built the pylon into the motor mounting structure. I think it is one of the biggest misses from Tige.

I could understand Tige building it with a lot of strength without the ability to adjust it or building it for Skiers only and then having the ability to adjust it to move it down. The current setup is pitiful No adjustment and No Strength.

              Bobby D,

Perhaps you could place/install an adtional Stereo Remote over the hole.
I am not sure if there is enough fiberglass left their since you did not show a top view of how much fiberglass is around the hole after you remove the pylon.
Or you could remove the plyon and take it to a machine shop and have them remove much of the metal and then smooth off and polish it to a dome or something. . .

              Just a thought. . .

I'm still going to check into getting something fabricated. I do like the idea of a bolt/washer/nut connection instead of a spring loaded plate. This will save money.

The hole in the fiberglass is much smaller than the overall diameter of the pylon. I'm willing to bet that once that pylon is removed, there will be a ring left in the paint where the mass of the pylon rested. Whatever we decide to use will most likely have to cover the same diameter so that it doesn't look bad.

I'm all for a solution here. For someone that will most likely NEVER use that pylon...I would like to have an option to remove it and it still look good. I would also like the option to mount it back up if ever needed.
