Rear Pilon Loose. Nut size? 06' 24Ve

I decided to spec an 09 RZ2 without the pylon. And the glass will be smooth and untouched where the pylon would be. Two D-rings will be mounted above the swim platform to tow. Slalom? I guess they will be using the tower.

No mater the strength, I could not stand the thought of that non-retractable pylon jutting out just waiting to trip, grab, stab, or rack some unwary or unfortunate person on the boat. I figured I could always install it later if I change my mind.

I would seriously reconsider.

There are lots of people that argue that it is fine to pull tubes from the tower, but it generally seen as not wise from the people who usually give good advice.

So if I were looking at your boat in a few years, I would not buy it. You might be hurting resale. Maybe it would be easier to unbolt it and then place a rubber cap in the hole and be able to put it in there when it comes time to sell. Just a thought.

Hello, My name is Mike, President/CEO of Insanity Pylons. I read this post and noticed many of you are dissatisfied with the factory pylon and as a result, we can manufacture a retrofit that could offer a superior stability and performance than what many of you are mentioning, and for a low price. I was kinda looking forward to your thoughts on the current pylon design and I realized I didn't post the link to the pics sorry. Look back at post #18, you'll see how the pylon is thru-bolted to the hull deck.

Can't resist the chance to chime in on my opinion of the 'pansy pylon'. I don't like it and Tige is the ONLY inboard manufacturer with such a thing.

I guess you don't have gel coat cracks around it yet? I don't either, but I have tired of the harness on the back tow hooks, so I am just putting tubes on the pylon, it is just a matter of time before it cracks.

That pylon is made for little girls.

I have only pulled tubes from the pylon and skiers. My tow rings are below my swim deck. Knock on wood no issues yet. But I did just pick up the spinner tube!

That is a pretty good idea, but the other point to consider is that I have pulled tubes from the D-rings on the back of my boat, which are probably higher than you can get them on yours. The rope drags in the water and makes it hard to get a whip going unless you like them going 45 MPH out there.

The tube pull is so much better from the pylon. I can get them out of the wake at a reasonable and safe speed so they always come back for more.

We have a couple different tubes. The 4 person great big mable I pull from the d rings with a harness. Rope drags the water a bit but with that much weight once I have it out of the wake I can whip it pretty much any way I want. I have a smaller 2 person tube that I pull from the pylon. So far no issues (knock on wood). I'm very hesitant to pull a tube from the tower.

I have pulled tubes off both D rings on a Bu 23LSV wakesetter. But we were (always) going balls out, in the Death Race 2000 style of tubing. And no small kids, just adult idiots.

I think the pylon install will be a piece of cake sometime in the future--(which is why it has strength issues in the first place?). Also, I would guess that some aftermarket pop-up solution can be had, probably at a pretty penny though.
