I use the lifting rings. I used to use a centering harness and that is the one that would always get stuck inbetween the transom and the platform. Now I just attach a tube to each lifting ring. It seems for some reason I have less mishaps this way. Plus I have the tubers and spotters looking out for the rope all the time. Very rarely do I have just one tube in the water. On my previous Tige I always pulled from the pylon as it appeared bulletproof.

after reading about all of this, I have a couple of questions. Tigé claims that the pylon is "strong enough," yet you're not supposed to tow with it? Well what is it for then? If you actually use it and the fiberglass starts cracking, is that covered under the lifeplus warranty? since you're towing with your pylon and it says not to, that could be construed as "abuse."
It seems that if they were to mount it to the stringer system (like the engine mounts), that they'd have a much more rigid design. This could also facilitate a retractable design. This would also provide an additional opportunity to touth the Penske Xtreme LifePlus Core's strength.Freude am Fahren.

The retractable pylon would be a nice feature.Be excellent to one another.

I just took my boat to boats of Nevada to get all the warranty work done, and I dont think I ever took a picture of it. I wish I would have gotten a picture.
Great to see someone new on the board. Welcome. How did you find out about Tigeowners?

Pylon Retrofit
Hello, My name is Mike, President/CEO of Insanity Pylons. I read this post and noticed many of you are dissatisfied with the factory pylon and as a result, we can manufacture a retrofit that could offer a superior stability and performance than what many of you are mentioning, and for a low price. We have done many retrofits for many different boats which replace their stock wakeboard pylon (or ski pylon) with our adapter and use our pylon instead, since it offers full support at the top in three directions (similar to a radio tower). I will be more than happy to manufacture a new pylon specifically for your applications if you could give me some feedback as to what exactly the problem is and what your requirements are. We also own a tige boat and are just as particular about performance as many of you are. We are currently working on a custom pylon for tige boats that replaces the factory ski pylon with full support at the top. We'll upload a photo when we get back. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us via our website InsanityWakeboardPylons.com (or just InsanityPylons.com for short).

Retrofit Tige Pylon Photos
Hey Guys, I took some pictures yesterday of the installation of the Insanity Pylon retrofit for the Tige factory ski pylon. From top to bottom in order:
1: Loosening the bolts of factory ski pylon.
2: Removing the factory ski pylon
3: Inserting the new Insanity Pylon adapter (flush mount!), then tightening the bolts back up.
4: Inserting the Insanity Wakeboard pylon into the adapter.
5: Picture of Insanity Pylon in socket adapter (thumb screws shown are not needed in actual product).
Assembly took about 5 minutes to remove old pylon and replace with the new socket adapter. Then another couple minutes to attach the straps at the top of the pylon. After the Insanity Pylon is set up the first time, subsequent set up times will be about one minute. Price will be about $195 and height from the floor will be about 6.5 feet, with extensions available for additional height.

Just to throw a wrench in you spokes, but that is not the pylon that is in question here. Check out the pics in the link below to see how the new pylons are mounted and you will see why all the fuss.
And a note to Talltigeguy.......I towed a Moomba home last night at 10mph from my "wimpy" factory pylon Pics are on my good camera at the house, sorry will post laterLast edited by chpthril; 07-22-2008, 07:38 PM.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I understand this is about the V Drive pylon, but I need to look again at my 22i's set up. From what I could tell, it was tied into the support system quite well.
Doesn't matter really as it is infront of the DD and therefore useless to us unless it is just me n jods. We always use the tow eye on the transome and have never had any issues with the swim platform.

I decided to spec an 09 RZ2 without the pylon. And the glass will be smooth and untouched where the pylon would be. Two D-rings will be mounted above the swim platform to tow. Slalom? I guess they will be using the tower.
No mater the strength, I could not stand the thought of that non-retractable pylon jutting out just waiting to trip, grab, stab, or rack some unwary or unfortunate person on the boat. I figured I could always install it later if I change my mind.
